Originally posted by markell lol its funny you say i dont know shit, but i worked in tech support for 3 years supporting boty pc and mac platforms.. yet i know nothing.
and im sure if there are any other techs out there who have dealt with the support on both platforms they will agree with what i originally said:
Any idiot can use a mac
I don't give a shit about your references.
and your point is? I have never worked with a Mac before, but I am suprised that there are pole smokers like you who always initiate mac pissfests. Who the fuck cares? Who?
lol.. everyone is so butthurt over my comment, maybe you shouldnt be using the net if your going to take every comment to the hart.
i dont care to know who quiet is, and really dont give a fuck who he is... i was simply stating how i felt.
lol and all my domains work ...
and i have no reason to hate, my shitty domains provided me with 3 laptops, 4 dekstops, and a tablet pc.. so none of you really have nothing that i can " hate " on

Originally posted by Hooper thats huge quiet. i thought about upgrading from my 15.2 but i dont think the 17 would be all that practical for traveling.
Let us know how it runs.
I can assure you it is the best Laptop I ahve ever had. I replaced a tired Dell Inspiron and it is far superior in display, speed and reliability. I need to run one Windows application in Virtual PC and it runs just fast as it did on the Dell.

I'll also be curious how your battery life is.
i was concerned for exactly the same reason you stated.
i have 2 spire backbacks (bigger one and a smaller one) that can hold the 12/15/17. i actually went down to an apple dealer and put a 17 in one of my packs when it was completely full (i was flying out the next day anyway, so i thought it would be a great time to test).
no difference that i could percieve. it is a little wider, but negligible depth, and it's actually noticably thinner than the 15. i have one of my 15's sitting beside it right now.
When I finally break down and buy a laptop (don't travel enough to need one) - it will be a Mac.
Why? Because the things I would do on it I can do just as well (or better) than I could on a PC.
I can write scripts on it, I can check on the servers, I can surf, I can check email, etc..
I can't play games, I can't program windows executables (although I can do PHP and such just fine)..
But it's such a great OS it would be a fantastic laptop, and I wouldn't be compelled to keep it current since I wouldn't be doing stuff like playing games on it or doing hardcore WORK on it (that's what the PC is for)..
Nice machine Quiet.. How much are the 17s in Canuckian dollars anyway?

if your hardcore WORK includes editing, compressing and chopping digital video, it's pretty good for that too ;) it was a little over 5K + GST...
that you can fly to Africa with? my dual powermac does the bulk of encoding though.
and no pc can run fcp.
Ya, you're right there - but basically I'm spoiled by desktops. When I get travelling again, there'll be no hard core working involved, so the laptop will be fine.
