what's wrong with being sober?

i don't understand..

i'm in my happiest state of mind when i'm totally awake and sober.. i hate being sleepy, i hate being drunk, i assume i would also hate being high even though never tried, i hate being on medication that gets you all relaxed and shit (even the painkillers).. i don't like the smell of tabacco, or weed, they stink, i can't ever imagine myself inhaling that shit.. i hate the smell of my cloths when i come back from a club or party.. smoking stinks!.. i also hate caffeine and steroids which get me all jumpy, and makes my hands shake.. i don't need that shit either..
i have to be sober and awake to enjoy my day..

how come so many people don't think that way? or am i just very lucky for being able to enjoy the natural state of my body the best?

yes, but movies and video games (those especially) do not involve contact with other people. drinking for me is a social thing - certainly you can 'socialize' in a multiplayer game, but I learned to prefer real interaction

i bet you are a control freak and fairly inhibited. you don't like the feeling of losing control and possibly doing something stupid or embarassing. it makes you a bad candidate for pot anyway, you would get very paranoid.

nothing wrong with not drinking or getting high.

but i know paranoid people, i'm nowhere close to that..

i just can't enjoy those things i mentioned, that's my point.. i'm not paranoid about it.. i don't hate people for doing those things, as long as they don't try to drag me into it..
i actually drink occasionally, but most of time just as sleep aid

i know what you mean..

I am shy in public and don't blend in into a group of people that quick.. But I was always like that even when I was a little kid, compared to the other kids my age.. and i don't think those kids were drunk or high.

Lane, you aren't the only one man. As of January 1st I quit drinking. I don't drink or smoke (anything). I used to be a relatively heavy drinker but I guess it was just time for me to knock it off and take my work seriously. Pretty funny for a guy who doesn't drink or smoke to use the name "Armed & Hammered". Now I am just Armed.

no, not depression

i quit sports after 15 years and now i don't get tired enough to fall asleep at midnight. it would be perfect if the day was 30 hours, i would stay up for 20 hours and sleep for 10... if you do intense sports, it makes your ideal day cycle length much shorter.. hell i even had to take naps every day..
