just wondering, has anyone purchased this software and received a functional program, or support that actually delivered what they promised, or are their empty promises pretty typical for them?

Tell them the whole deal mate.
You come in the live chat at 4am in the morning and expect a tech to be awake. When one is not awake, you start cussing and spitting.
You come in one time and one time only during daytime EST and what happens? You got instant support. Foz (Jean) fixed one issue of the 2 you asked us to fix, but refused to fix the other as that function had been modified by a third party. We do not support modified code.
If you get someone else to play with the code then you really need to get them to fix it.
as for people using it, its been posted here before. quite a few people posted who are using it. check the archives. The next generation of SEOComment

okay . . . how about this: I have never purchased any scripts from them, but I do talk to a lot of people, and I have read several threads, like this one and I have to say that if I really needed a script, I think it would be a better investment to fly to India, and find a programmer there that spoke fluent English, and get a customized one made.
Judging by the prices I have seen advertised, it would probably be cheaper, and it would work.Comment

Thanks for posting that link, if you read the entire thread you will notice that *every* person who posted was answered and that a good number of people using the script had good things to say about it.
As for india, feel free

And the other change had nothing to do with the billing portion of the script. So it is obvious you don't know shit. And it did get fixed tonight, took 10 mins from someone that knew what the hell they were doing.Comment

First off, you did not want to even talk to me, because I was not the person that made the purchase, so I got goodgirl to join the chat.
SexPicturesPass bought the script about a year ago, it was supposed to come with a free installation, that you insisted on doing. When I informed you that goodgirl was made to pay for the install you were pissed, and insisted that something would be done about that, and that there should not have been any charge.
You also admitted that there were issues that you were aware of, and that they would be taken care of. You told me to have a list of items that needed to be resolved sent to your support, which was done, and that it would be looked into immediately.
Well, after a couple of weeks we had not heard from you, and since we are trying to run a business, we were forced into paying to having some issues resolved.
That is when I went into the chat in daylight hours and was told again that someone would be working on it the following day. An email was sent to you that said that if PerlCoders did eventually make this script work, both goodgirl and myself would sing the praises of PerlCoders at every opportunity.
We had informed you that we had fixed some of the problems, to which Foz replied, "Fraud checker is now working properly. For some reason, the use LWP::Simple at the top of the file was commented out.
As for the click through stats, it seems that you are attempting to tie in a third party affiliate program so this is no longer my area. You'll have to speak with them and find out why the click through stats aren't working properly."
goodgirl responded with: " Ok, now that makes no sense to me at all. The click through should be counting members in and members out. So that happens way before they click the buy link to flynt, so that is a pretty lame excuse.
And I'm sorry I don't see cookies hurting the script that tracks click
throughs. It wasn't working way before I added cookies.
How about giving me a logical excuse..."
No reply was forthcoming.
I then went back to the chat and was informed that Foz was having a baby and would be unavailable for a few days. I guess he had a tough labor.
Several days go by, and still no reply.
I return to the chat today and ask for you. No response. So I state that I am now going to take the issue to the boards. You then magically appear, and said "please do, we like the free advertising." I was them booted from the chat.
This script was bought and paid for over a year ago. You guys knew you had issues, and we even said we would restore everything to its original state if that would make life easier on you. The install was paid for (which is supposed to be free), and yes, we have been forced to pay others, including ex-employees, to make this thing work.
Your support is nothing more than bullshit promises, excuses and denial.
You would be surprised how many people have hit me up on ICQ asking me if we are using TAVS Pro, and telling me they have had problems with it, and even more programmers that have volunteered to write a new script, but because I expected that you would make good on your promises, I turned them down.Comment

yes she did, at which time Foz pasted the comments in the script that had been modified. Comments made by you or your modifying coder which are also shown in one of my above pastes.
read above, this was already explained to her in email. it did not need to be explained again. No reply was forthcoming.

Yes read the chatlog, he said bullshit.
according to ryan kinnear she was not charged for install but for modifying the default templates for her, which he did.
Ryan didn't touch my templates. And he didn't even do the install.
wrong. looking over logs of you it is shown that you knew that goodgirl, our customer, sent us an email saying she thought she had it licked and she would contact us if she needed us. You were told this in chat and you left soon after contacting goodgirl.
I did email you that the Fraud Checker and Clicks were not working. And yes I said I fixed all the other problems, since we had already waited over a week since the time you said it would be taken care of the next day.
this is exactly what the tech told you, yes.
Your tech must know your script as well as you do. It is obvious to me that you do not even know how the script works.
Either that, or it was just a lame excuse to get out of working on the script.
Actually if you remember, it was GZ's GF who aving a baby. Not Foz.
Well you told us we were waiting that week because the techs wife was having a baby.
You came in the chat "tonight", not today. And it happens I had been eating dinner, but yes when i popped back on the computer I answered your retarded threats.
And on your terms.
1st I have had to pay for the install.
2nd I even paid on another install of a different script.
3rd I have paid for work done on that different script.
If you want copies of my paypal reciepts I will be more then happy to dig them up for you.
So apparently you can't seem to control your techs not charging.
With that, why would I ever think I would get work done for free.
And to top that off, I didn't do any modifications until 8 months after it was apparent to me, that you guys were not going to do it.Comment
-
again, why don't you post the logs, or a link to them, where you were informed that I was the majority owner of the company that bought the script, thus I am your customer.
Or where you were informed that numerous e-mails had been sent to you guys, with no response.
Do I need to have goodgirl dig up all the unanswered e-mails?
Why don't you post the logs where you agree that errors have been made, and that you will personally see to it that they are resolved?
Your selective use of the chat logs reminds me of the Nixon tapes during Watergate.
And why do you make it seem that this has been something that I have been addressing every couple of days? I have waited over a week for every subsequent contact.
and yeah, I made the mistake about GZ and not Foz, because I never heard from GZ. I was only told that he was working on it, except he would not be able to because for some reason it was important that he not work when he had a baby
I guess I will not mention the fact that Itchy was never paid the referral fee he should have been paid, even though it showed up in his stats. I think we will dig up the article he wrote about that experience.Comment
-
actually it was the very next day, I beleive, that we got the email telling us you thought you had it licked and would email us if you needed us. So yes, baddog did wait a week before popping back in thinking we were in the wrong. When your email was pasted to him, his attitude changed significantly.I did email you that the Fraud Checker and Clicks were not working. And yes I said I fixed all the other problems, since we had already waited over a week since the time you said it would be taken care of the next day.
as stated, Foz (the tech) pasted the entire function showing the comments made by your third party coder where he had modified the stats function to tie flyntdigital (if i remember correctly) into the script as an affiliate.this is exactly what the tech told you, yes.
Your tech must know your script as well as you do. It is obvious to me that you do not even know how the script works.
Either that, or it was just a lame excuse to get out of working on the script.

If you want copies of my paypal reciepts I will be more then happy to dig them up for you.
You paid who for an install of a different script?
Again, if you paid for work done on the second script before contacting us then sorry, but that is not our problem.
Again, the first email we got from you was after you had someone modify the script. And to top that off, I didn't do any modifications until 8 months after it was apparent to me, that you guys were not going to do it.The next generation of SEOComment

Oh so sorry, my channel chat log is 8 gigs large. I really dont think lensman wants me posting it all here.Your selective use of the chat logs reminds me of the Nixon tapes during Watergate.
Not to mention the fact that only one chat log was posted to prove any point OTHER than the time of day you apear asking for suport was the one from tonight and was pasted in it's entirety.
I am sorry, I dont recal where i said anything of the sort. I pasted found items in the chat log to show the time of day that you come in asking for a tech. why don't you post the daytime chats when I discovered that gz was at the hospital, as well as the others.
I know one thing for sure, not only do you provide terrible customer support, but you do have a way of twisting the facts to suit yourself, but I think anyone reading it can see you are full of shit. Oh wait, that is cussing, you are full of crap. Hmmm, perhaps just calling you a liar would be better.Comment

Stop trying to muddle the facts. The logs i posted at first were merely to show the time of day you were coming in trying to act like you might find a tech alive at 4am.Originally posted by baddog
no one is asking for your complete chat logs, just the relevant ones.
The only log that was not for that reason was posted fully from the time you joined the chat until a few minutes afterwards.

No those were not on the same day. They were posted to show the TIME you generally come in to the chat. Which part of time do you have a problem grasping exactly?
And I think it has been shown that you did come in during the daytime once or twice and that GZ's girl had a baby. and that foz was assigned due to that when it was apparent that GZ was going to be gone for a while. The next generation of SEOComment

That was for an install of Total Affiliates.
I will look for the other one. I think the other one was for adding actually tracking of affiliates clicks. Apparently you guys aren't very good with that portion of your scripts.
My email to you:
---
I just wanted to give you an update of what I already fixed.
The edit sites, webmaster referals stats, webmaster and surfer tracking, mass email functions, pending sites showing up in admin, webmaster referal link in the email, and in the lounge.
I think the only things not working now is delete site, fraud checking and having a hold button in the admin for site review. (I plan on continuing to work on these items. I will email if I do get them fixed as well.
Tanya aka goodgirl

No that didn't state that I didn't need you to work on the script, it was me being polite enough to save your techs work by letting them know what I had already fixed myself. Sorry, my mistake, it gave you another EXCUSE not to fix the script that I paid $2500 for.
Flynt isn't an affiliate, there was no change in the script for Flynt linking. So your tech is wrong.
The only thing I changed was adding cookies, which has nothing to do with tracking the click throughs or Flynt.
Unfortunetly I don't have all the emails I sent to you the first 2 months I had the script. But I can assure you, that I did not wait 8 months to tell you the script has major bugs.Comment

When I have a client that needs help, and if I'm here, I give them the support they deserve. I don't say hey it is the middle of the night, I'm not going to do it now.
I would think you would learn enough to hire techs to be available at night. Not everyone is on your timezone. Or works the hours you do. Or that you don't even though you are there.Comment

It is threads like this which make me totally gun-shy about paying for pricey outsourced programming and scripts. If it is inhouse, at least the fingerpointing to modifications or whatever is contained. I really think that a $2,500 script should come with support. If the code is so modified that it really requires some puzzling out, then an additional charge may make sense, but not a total lack of support.Comment

Never fails, you let them know yer going to sleep and the first thing they can do is add as much spin as they can cram in.
Amelia, read the whole thread. baddog continously came in asking for techs around 4am when he had already been told a bunch of times by CUSTOMERS that no techs were alive at that time of morning. The FIRST time he did come in during daytime, I personally went over things with him. The next day I got an email from goodgirl saying she thought she had it licked and would email if she needed us. A week went by with no word from them, obviously we assumed they were fine. Around the end of that week baddog comes in saying what crappy support again (not knowing about goodgirls email to us). When i pasted the email his attitude changed abruptly. We talked and I assigned a tech that day. That tech ended up at the hospital with his girl who was giving birth, another tech (Foz) was assigned. Foz went and fixed the main issue, and replied to them that he was not touching the other due to the code being altered. Goodgirls rely was "Thats a load of bull, and lame". baddog came in again blustering as usual. It was explained to him and he said he did not know the code was altered. The techs words were pasted to him. Including a screendump of the third party coders comments about adding stuff for goodgirl.
The above is the condensed version.
This thread is about someone who DID get support even AFTER breaking our terms, on one of the 2 issues. Never was any offer to pay a coder to fix their modified code brought to us.
However, he states he came in tonight for support... yet goodgirl in this same thread states the remaining 1 issue was fixed prior, so how exactly was he coming in for support?
He wasn't. He came in for no other reason than to make threats, at which point he was told to go ahead and make good on his threat.
Here we are. wow.

And he came in Before I got someone else to fix it.
You know as usually, showing your lack of interest to support your script, lead me to have someone else do it. Which is why I had to have modifications done in the first place. Just the first time it took me months of your lack of support to get the modifications done by someone else. Now I just go right to having someone else do it, when you many excuses come up.
Fortunately I learn from my mistakes. Apparently you don't.
Again for the record, I didn't make any modifications to the script. Your tech charged me to install it, after the install, most of it didn't work.Comment

And even asked Ryan about him, he said he is good and he himself had hired him to work on the script a few times. But you read what you need, instead of the truth.
And you know, I was wrong, I do have my earlier emails.

Bob,
Hello, looks like the template you're going to want to edit is under
webmaster/addsite-ok.tmpl
As far as the template displaying the webmaster code, i'm sure this is quite
possible, but i'm not sure if it's currently part of the script, you're
wanting it to show up on the page, correct? I'm not that familiar with this
script myself, if you're wanting what i think you're wanting, just the code
showing up on the page, i'll ask a coworker who is very familiar with the
script if the script is capable of this without much editing, if not, let me
know what you're after, and we'll get this worked out for you.

And yes that was an easy one for someone to answer, you know, if you actually make a Readme file or Doc that has information like Variables for your scripts, you would save TONS of time in support. It is really worth taking the time to do ;)
I can keep searching, but there were plenty of problems, we logged into chat, emailed support or talked to perlcoders support people on ICQ.
I'm sorry you have such a problem with admitting how much your support lacks. It is the support lacking, that would make me tell anyone I know to stay away from you.
Anyone that has been a member, downloaded free scripts and tried to install them, I'm sure can say, you have problems.
But none of this really matters. I don't want or need anything from you. See that is the problem, I don't need your help now. You made it clear from the start, it wasn't worth it.
I just want to save anyone some Cash and tell them to contact a good coder, one that you work with personally, and stay away from the headaches.
I'm sure you will find another excuse why I or baddog was wrong. Have fun. Just to any customer that is even thinking of any script from perlcoders. Look now and see what type of support you will receive.
Oh on the convo with Foz, Can I say again Flynt is not an Affiliate. Maybe some day you will figure that one out. But, I won't be shocked if that doesn't happen.

I guess after a year, you learn when they say they will, and they don't show up, to just move on.
And I know I told you before you even went in there that night that they would say they would and then wouldn't get it done.
Well they did the fraud checker a week after they said it....that was amazing to me.
I have no doubt they didn't fix the tracking, because they didn't know how to, so they made an excuse. They had done nothing to prove otherwise.
Oh and hopefully the total affiliate script was updated, cause when I downloaded that one, it said it cookied. But as soon as I installed it, I found out it didn't.Comment

I bought one of their most exoensive scripts a few years ago, and I only have this to say:
1) They promised free installation, I eventually had to pay for it.
2) I emailed them about problems for almost 2 months, never got a reply, EVER !!1
3) I had someone install it (at a cost) and it turned out that half the functions which were promised wasn´t included in the script.
Eventually, I was forced to learn Perl and do the stuff myself, thank you perlcoders, you motivated me to learn programming.
I wouldn´t recommend that anyone buy their stuff, it´s going to cost you 2-3 times the amount you expect to pay and many weeks if not months to get it done. (No customersupport, and if you eventually do get it, it´s going to cost you)
Sorry, perlcoders.. I bought from you once and that was one time to many...Comment
