the 1st time i saw Caligula was on Beta.....i was over at my cousins when i was 14 years old and snuck down at night and watched it on the tv.
of course, i liked it so much......their was a couple penthouse videos on the tape as well....that i rigged up a connection to the normal vcr and made a copy of the shit to take home.
if i go down to the basement and start looking im sure i still have it....lol

Here's what I do on my sites...
Full Length Scenes are put into WMV and formatted into high and low bandwidth. They are data rates of 750 and 150.
Then, those same scenes are broken down into mpg1 and chopped into 2 minute clips at a data rate of 750.
The full length scenes usually end up being around 50 megs for high speed and 10 megs for dial-up. The mpg's are around 13 megs each.
So far, no complaints from any surfer.

If you can only go with one, go with MPEG. Two of the three mainstream players work for it. It used to be that Quicktime format was the most efficient format in terms of file size/quality but that is quickly changing, or in some instances, changed already.
In terms of DIVX - the codec looks awesome, but like the man stated above it's simply not mainstream enuff and the impatient porno surfer will leave b 4 they have to DL and install a codec.Trust Me...

not to mention divx has multiple versions of codec i believe and can be shitty to skip through. movs require the quicktime player for the most part and it sucks ass. avi cannot play partial files. mpg can play partial files, tons of players can play it, and it's compressed too. don't need anything else.php/mysql guru. hosting, coding, all that jazz.Comment

Don't get me wrong MPEG-1 will always be a personal fav. and should always be an option on your tours But come on people times have changed, .WMV is here to stay. No complaints in the last 4 months.
Tell your members to get downloading from microsoft or they can't see your videos...

mpeg-1 makes surfers happiest, not even sure why. the *think* just cuz it says .mpg it's somehow better - mpeg is like jpeg, compress it enough and it looks like shit. I like mpeg myself personally because when my cable connection is good, mpegs immediately being streaming in MediaPlayer, and i can use the slider to go back and forward. WMV will stream the same way but u can't go forward or backward.
i see no difference in quality between a WMV and MPEG-1 file of the same KB size. None.
MOV files look like shit when u increase the screen size, don't know why they seem to degrade worse than a WMV or MPEG.
RealVideo is much better these days but for some reason when i click on one it wants to download the whole file.
