    is the adult biz.....

    your full time job or is this just supplemental income for you?

    this has been full time for me since 97-98 and although i am totally jaded, i have learned quite a bit more in all arenas then the 4 yrs of college i spent too much money on would have permitted.

    take naked people out of the equation and there is so much more knowledge to gain then sitting at a desk in an office day in and day out working like a hearded cow.

                                  re-read what i wrote, i didnt say i didnt learn much in college. i did say i have learned more in the various arenas of this biz! if you went to college, then you know that what is taught is quite limited to the knowledge you gain outside of the classroom. everything in any form of constructed learning is predetermined. in this biz, nothing is predetermined. you learn what you want, when you want and to whatever extent you want.

                                          college is very valuable in giving you the basic knowledge needed. does depend on what you took in college. you get different things out of different majors.

                                              any structured form of learning can be beneficial in the sense that it teaches you discipline.

                                              i went to college for biz and with a degree (back about 10 years ago) i made 40k starting out. being in this biz, i have made far more. most of what is taught in college is not always what happens in the work force. they dont teach you how to handle the long hours, how to put together a comprehensive analysis of a company, how to handle the various personalities in an important meeting. what they do teach you are the basics at best and yes i went to a very accredited college and still i have gained more on this end then i did in college cause college doesnt teach you life experiences!

                                                  my bachelor degree included a ton of group work and courses on organizational behaviour where you learn how to deal with people.

                                                  school really starts beyond a bachelor's degree. an MBA program would give you all the tools necessary to do a valuation of a company if you took the right finance courses. You also have a ton of group work and the course load is much greater. the greatest value of an MBA is the contacts you make, plus you usually start at 150-200% of the salary of someone with a bachelor's because your level of knowledge is much greater.

                                                          i would agree with you on obtaining an MBA if it were 7 years ago. however, with mba's from harvard asking if you want to super size your order, i dont feel that is the way to go these days. yes it can be blamed on the economy and yes it would be a good idea to get a graduate degree now (65-75% of college grads are going back to get their graduate degrees now more then they did 7 years ago) so that you can use that piece of paper sometime in the future.

                                                          on the other side though, i went to lots of alumni functions and networked a bit. in the line of work i was in, you couldnt network anymore then with the people i worked with cause there were graduates from every ivy league school in the country at the company i worked for (for those who ask why i am not working at that company anymore, i dont like to ass kiss and i was quite honestly, board out of my mind...no challange).

                                                          i can say that at this point in my life with a mere bachelors, i am more knowledgable then a good portion of those with a graduate degree and not for any other reason then what life has thrown my way. think about the different facets of the adult biz (again take out the models) and tell me that what you have learned here can be learned in coporate finance

                                                                  university opens up a whole new world of opportunity, what people choose to do afterwards with that is what defines them. i know many people who are just as dumb today as they were the day they applied to university.

                                                                      college does open up doors, youre right but so does reading a book on how to build a house. same can be said about shows on the discovery channel. this got completely off topic from my original question if this was someone's full time job or not but let me ask you, and be honest, how much of your degree do you actually use now (assuming you have been out for a while and not a few years)? did your degree teach you how to build a server? did your degree teach you how to shoot videos, stills or put together a webpage? did college teach you what to do if your entire network goes down? i am not quite sure what you do so i am just making a generalization. i'm sure you know what i mean

                                                                          but for things like what do you do if your network goes down? call your tech but if you want a valuation of your networking company or help with the companies financial structure, you call me
