    Anyone have suggestions on DVD-R or DVD+R drives?

        I think minus R DVD-R is the one to get.. the media for -R is cheapest & seems like it will become the standard.

          with how cheap you can buy blanks, and how much the price is going down.... i dont see any reason to buy re writable.

            - R is more compatible right now

            but you could also get the one that does both,

            i'm waiting on the 8X's to come out before i upgrade my 2X's.

              Get the Sony one since it does both, price should be in the $300-350 range.

              Otherwise I would check what DVD Player you have and make sure to get either - + whichever works with it and your friends/family.

                I read plus r is more compatible with home dvd players. Tigerdirect is selling the philpis one for $139 I think. So far everyone I sent a +r dvd to they have been able to pay it.

                  DVD +R is a format that is best used for Data. DVD -R is best used for media.
                  I bought a Sony 500 AU. it burns -r/rw =r/rw and ram. I STILL get wierd spin errors, even if it can read the disk, it doesn't mean an older one can read it.
                  I would suggest oyu get one that does all 3 formats.
