Free thinking people do not join the armed forces.
Are you speaking from any kind of experience or simple conjecture?

I think you are uninformed.

In truth, the number one mantra in the miltary for the last 20+ years has been "safety first". This requires the ability to observe, analyze, and to act on your own decisions.

In fact, military personnel are trained to think for themselves and to adapt to unique situations and handle them appropriately.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say "free thinking people".

Are you talking about people who refuse to cooperate with others? People who go to extremes to "not conform", when they are simply conforming to a different set of requirements?

Maybe you mean people who refuse to give up a little bit of their own freedom and uniqueness for the benefit of others?
