lets not pretend the Japanese were all victims either. Most historical sources estimate that the japanese army, while invading Manchuria and mainland China, killed in the nieghbourhood of 600,000 civilians including women and Children. Add the Baatan death march, the POW massacres towards the end of the war to that as well. Philipines were also held and brutally treated by the imperial army (Japan, not Darth vader)
The simple fact is that war is always horrible, regardless of who fights it. Anyone here who has been in combat will agree with me I think.
What a dumbass!
First of... "IF" it is true... thats not the reason why the US droped the bomb!
Second, if a country kill thousands of people, its ok to drop a nuclear bomb on the country and kill hundred of thousands of innocent civillians!???
-"The simple fact is that war is always horrible, regardless of who fights it. Anyone here who has been in combat will agree with me I think."
Actually, yes, that is a killer argument. If your weak ass had ever been in a uniform and in combat, you would realize a few things.
When being fired upon, you dont always have time to make some moral, humane judgement. You dont fight for ideals of justice or liberty, you fight for the live of the guy next to you, and he fights for yours. Your very right to gripe and bitch on this forum was paid for by people doing just that.
And actually, Japanese imperial behavior did go into the decision by Truman to drop atomic bombs on Japan. Anyone who has ever read any history knows that. Call me a dumbass all you want, but unless you have some facts to back it up with, your argument is worthless.

We are talking about a nuclear bomb you moron!!!
NOt a cop firing because he saw the guy reach his pocket!!
200,000 death later and say... oops, I didnt have time to think!???
Doomsday is near!!

Me not bringing facts? Please show us anything that would suggest that a nuclear bomb was launched on Japan because of Japanese imperial past!?
When you are done with those, let me know, and I can give you some more. I study and read history a lot dude, so on that subject I know my shit. On selling porn on the internet, I am still learning.

It was a retaliation for Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor and a way to win the war....
Nothing more... !
(maybe you are not reading the right books!)
OK, if u say so. Like what books woudl you suggest?
Those books, by the way, clearly explain who the thinking at the time was that dropping the bombs would spare almost 1 million lives, on the US side alone. Lots more civilian lives could be saved by dropping a few nukes than by trying to invade Japan, which would have had the Japanese government drafting 12 year olds.
But don't worry, I wont bother you with facts any more. You're far too comfortable in your ignorance fuelled anti american hatred.

Who won that war btw? You are applying completely fucked up analogies between war now and war 60 years ago. Nuking Japan probably saved millions of lives but never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

I will be visiting France again at the end of the year but I prefer to live in Australia... it's the most chilled out first world country on the planet.
Joe, are you going with those beauties:
Spent 2 weeks in the US last March... Would have been better to spend 2 days in France ....
I know that Asspimple is stoopid ... As he says, it is a FACT !
But I can't figure out how he can breathe or type , at the same time ....
Bush's main justifications for invading Iraq were...
1. Iraq posed a threat to the US.
2. They had a major biological and chemical WMD program going.
3. Saddam is an asshole.
Reason #1 is not just false, its laughable. Reason #2 is merely probably false. Reason #3.. believe it or not.. is actually truthful, but there are lots of asshole dictators who's countries we don't invade, so there must be ulterior motives at play.

From what I've heard, Truman looked at the facts of other battles, including Iwo Jima and decided it wasn't worth invading Japan. - They were fanatical, using kamikaze pilot's and the concern was they would use the same tactics defending mainland Japan.
The American Flag Raising on Mt. Suribachi took place on February 23, 1945 - the fifth day of battle. The Battle continued with increased intensity for a month more. Almost 7,000 Americans were killed in action at Iwo Jima - more than 20,000 American casualties.
Approximately one-third of all Marines killed in action in World War II were killed at Iwo Jima, making Iwo Jima the battle with the highest number of casualties in Marine Corps history.
Just a word about the general subject of this thread ...
First, let's talk about the title: " France -- Absolutely Worthless " ...
I'm pretty surprised by this sentence ! France is worthless because its government does not agree with yourz ? LOL
Is your mother worthless when she don't agree with what you do ?
Nevermind, I'm more surprised by the intolerance demonstrated by few Americans ( or pro-americans ) here... It's very easy to badmouth on people but less easy to give real and valuable explanations. I'm French and I don't agree Bush's politic: Do I insult the American people for this reason? NO !
I really love USA and I am also hurt by the september 11 attacks. I'm really sad to note how the things evolve since USA declared the war in Iraq.
I deplore that this country granted itself rights above a world organization ( with the pretext that only the USA must decide what is good or not ). If another country had made the same thing, the reaction would not have been the same one.
I know that many of you will insult what I said, but who cares ? I'm not here to fight with people who don't share my view ( it's easy in front a computer ), now if you know where is Paris just take a flight to me it will be different ;)
Let's intelligent people giving a real point of view without stupid and worthless remarks.

Take care...
Well said Sneka.
I would disagree that the US "granted itself rights above a world organization " and say that I think the US acted like it felt the UN should act, if it wasn't blocked from doing so by a few countries without the political will to act.
Even if I disagree with you though, I do see your point on a few things.
Et moi aussi, J'etais Francais avant de devenir Americain.

You obviously didn't ready anything beyond the subject line. You know, the part that talks about "Black Tuesday" and zero productivity. It helps to read beyond the thread's subject line before getting on a tangental soapbox.

You're right, in a mere 227 years, the US has become the world super-power. France has some nice restaurants and is a decent vacation spot. Our lack of a long history and tradition doesn't keep those fucks from asking us to save their asses when some other group of fucks decide to invade them.

Well, happy to hear that it's possible to discuss on the subject and not fighting on it.
Thanks for your quite remark. you say:
"I think the US acted like it felt the UN should act, if it wasn't blocked from doing so by a few countries without the political will to act"
Only one question comes to me following your view. why USA did propose resolutions, and why are they from a world organization, if is not to comply with its rules ?
Let me exaggerate a bit... If tomorrow USA decide to exterminate all californian people. Will you agree that US can act like it feel the UN have to do ? I guess no...
For my part, I do not agree the fact that a country can be above the UN ( USA or any other one ). We need rules and we need to follow them to live equitably and in peace with each one.
And just let me notice that we already have rules in each country. that guarantee everybody to leave in equality with everybody and to show what is good and what is wrong. Even if you have rules, you can see robbers, rapists, murderers... that's why you have the Police, to ensure that the rules are respected.
I think there is a close relation between this reasoning and the way in which the world organization works.
