We did not have to give away all our content to move into our 2,000 sq ft studio, or buy the 7 computers we have, or the Nikon D1X, or the the Nikon D100, or the EOS 3 with a pro zoom lens, or the EOS 5, or the 7 Multiblitz heads, or any of the other things we have, or pay our staff of 7 people. We just write out a check.
We did do a few deals when we wanted to raise some extra money to buy our house outright though.
