    Best Franchise Reaturant

Seeing PK's post on Subway, got me thinking....

What is your favorite franchise reasturant?

If you could open any franchise store, which one would it be? Which would make the most money?

McDonalds was the highest grossing franchise in 2002...Subway was 2nd... but I'd open a 7-11 or some in-out convience store(plan to do that in the next 3 years)...Less up front money, steady business when you pick the right area, not as many hassles obviously...not as much profit since theres one on every corner but it's still a good investment

Yeah the KFC - Taco Bell is a good thing... the combos are nice, with 3 reaturants in one place.

Subway is good, lots of name recognition.... but wonder if there are any places that does not have a subway now...

Anyone have a Buffalo Wild Wings sports bar around?

I used to own 2 Dunkin Donuts franchisee's in upstate NY for 5 years. I sold them in the early 90's. It sucked in numerous ways. Mostly, it was the the sleep deprivation from having a store that is open 24/7/365 employed by mostly minumum-wage high school kids who don't give a rats-ass about your store and their ability to consistently show up for all their shifts let alone act like a professional on the job. The day never ended. I thought I would die of stress before 40 if I kept at it so I sold and moved to Silicon Valley and started up an Internet biz.

NoCostPorn, lots of 7-11 times of business' have been having problems down south.... hard to compete when you have walgreens on every corner, and are upon 24 hours now.

                            I think 7-11s are a dying business.

depends I guess...Where I use to live there were 5 convient stores within a 3 mile radius..on the other hand theres a 7-11 leading off a high trafficed 2 way road that everybody coming out of the town uses to go to work...hard to get a location like that though

Subways are a crappy franchise to get into unless you have the financial wherewithall to open several and get economies of scale right away. Look at their prospectus they must give to potential franchisees. It states that the liklihood that you will make money unless you open up multiple stores is slim. You are in effect, buying yourself a job to stand there and smaear mustard on ungrateful people's subs all day or hire someone and lose even more.

HEHE I am in New Orleans, home of popeyes... I like their chicken better then KFCs...

Funny thing is outside of NO - people consider Popeyes ghetto.... ( though I guess since NO is mostly ghetto - it makes sense)

our area is like the fuckin 7-11 capital lol..They are looking to franchise 80 more this year... Wa-Wa is moving in though ut I don't see 7-11 going anywhere, the way the stores are branded and so simple I couldnt see them dying...I havent seen ONE 7-11 close in the MD/DC area.. a lot of fast food restaurants though

you can get in for under $50k...worth the chance for me,thats my plan when I'm done in adult

McDonalds franchisees are up in arms and losing their shirts lately. Besides cannibalization from haveing too many close by in the US...they were forced to spend $100k retrofitting their kitchens a few years back for the "just in time" menu cooking scheme they came up with in head office to lure people back who hated the heat lamped burgers sitting around. Same store sales are slipping every year and costs are going up because of their discounted menu offerings. They haven't had a menu success since Chicken McNuggets in the early 80's. Unless you own a bunch of McDonalds and can weather the storm - you are losing money if you have anywhere near the average sales volume of their stores.

Denny's. It's the same food you get at any other fast-food restaurant, except that you pay twice as much for it.

What is your favorite franchise reasturant?

If you could open any franchise store, which one would it be? Which would make the most money?

Best thing to do is find a franchise that isn't in your area, then do research and then see if the franchise corp is willing to open up in new territory.

Chick-fil-a isn't all over America and Canada, might be a good one.

We sold my grandfather's farm to him and he turned it into a home for foster kids. Genuinely an incredibly good person who turned it into a good company.

I think right now the fee is $500K to get a franchise. I knew someone that did this 15 or so years ago and got booted because of an extra marital affair. Ol' Truett wasn't happy, lol, and he wants to keep control of who's running the stores!

I was told that I might want to come up and check on my place up there, but I havent even had time to call....I figured someone would call me if it was hit by a tornado or something

I am not really sure about all of the details on the franschise thing, but I was under the impression that an Operator was just a glorified manager that had some incentives built in. I was also told that it was only like $5k to become an Operator and you never owned a single percent of the stock and that it was generally designed for a way to reward good employees of the company......but I could be wrong.

The one on 7 mile and the Lodge used to run out of chicken at night when I used to hang with a friend down there 10 years ago.
