    Web design companies

Looking for mainstream web design companies that actually look the part. A friend contacted me wanting some sites to check out for an article she's writing, thinking I'd be the person who knows. I said yes thinking it easy enough to find a few good url's but...wow there's some shit out there. 99% of sites selling web designs are just plain cheap and nasty.

So...anyone have url's bookmarked of companies that can actually design their own site well enough that people would want to use them? I only want half dozen or so to send her

          Thanks.

An example of the sort of stuff I was coming up with...

          http://www.sticklandweb.co.uk/
          http://www.bacpro.net/
          http://webray.com/

and the best of the bunch (click on the html pages link)...

          http://www.virtualwizards.co.uk/

I find it amazing that anyone would buy a site from any of the above no matter what the price Mind you - doesn't help in finding good sites that google results are truly shit at the moment when searching for anything useful. I really must dump the toolbar and use a different SE...

Just wanted to say nice looking design. Fairly simple but there's just something about it that appeals

Shame I'm not in the market for a tour at the moment.

i love the ISPrime design. Always wondered who did it, had a feeling it wasn't an adult design company.

think they created all those cherry red servers from scratch?
I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. I've saved money, my hair is thicker, lost some weight too! Thanks Sly!

Damn - I'd almost forgotten. I got pissed off in the end running around like a headless chicken chasing people who 'donated' prizes but didn't want to pay up. Sort of made me feel cheap to keep pestering them.

There's a few people who did respond that I've gone no further with because it needed other prizes to make them of use. Mike from webair was a great example. He did respond but I've not yet had the 6 months hosting because I have 2 servers and a lot of bandwidth that I don't use to the max at the moment :/ The project I had panned for the webair hosting would have used some of the other prizes that never coughed up. Oh well. Thanks though Mike.

If you need my details again Juciy lemme know

Oh and Eric - if you read it I'd still love to be able to wear my adult.com jacket, playboy bowling shirt and watch the a DVD on the DVD player sometime ;)

I agree, I like that unique design-- Those Russian designers kick ass.

I'm pretty sure they did those vector designs from scratch.

Um yeah obviously someone as talented as hillman curtis is generally out of the price range for most of this industry, BUT the initial post is not about hiring a cheap designer, it is about locating good design for an article...
