Okay. But I wanted more info on what exactly 'THAT' role means. What does the HEAD of the CIA do? That's all. The basic definition of his role, not just his position.

Basically pretty much what any CEO does...managerial...final decisions...policy...etc.

What type of things does he okay? Cuban payoffs? Tappings? Assinations? What is he in charge of? NOT HIS POSITION.

Off hand I don't recall what years he was in charge of the CIA or anything notable...I would have to do some research to refresh my memory. I recall more about his time as Ambassador to China than I do his time at the CIA.

Director of Central Intelligence (DCI)

The DCI is the primary adviser to the President and the National Security Council on national foreign intelligence matters. He is the head of the Central Intelligence Agency and of such other staff elements as are required for the discharge of his Intelligence Community responsibilities.

Executive Order 12333, issued by President Reagan on 4 December 1981, gives the DCI authority to develop and implement the National Foreign Intelligence Program and to coordinate the tasking of all Intelligence Community collection elements.

In addition to staff elements of the Office of the DCI, the Intelligence Community consists of the Central Intelligence Agency; the National Security Agency; the Defense Intelligence Agency; the National Reconnaissance Office; the National Imagery and Mapping Agency; the Bureau of Intelligence and Research of the Department of State; and the intelligence elements of the military services, the FBI, and the Departments of Treasury and Energy. Bush senior was involved in supplying arms to the Nicaraguan Contras in S. America, he was using drug money to finance this. The Contras were a bunch of right wing terrorist who were trying to overthrow the left wing elected goverment. He was also mixed up with Iran. Lovely family with real Christian morals. And the US public elected him and his son.

My understanding is George Bush was part of a secret operation to sire male children who would then be planted in the USSR. These children, although politically astute, would in fact be dumb as bags of rocks. The idea was these "Operation W" children would eventually grow up and one of them would become head of the Soviet Union. This son would then destroy the USSR from the inside by running the economy into the ground, causing the entire Soviet Union to collapse.

But of course, the fall of the USSR by natural forces has caused the plan to horribly backfire.
