How did you find decent accomodation there? We considered it until we looked further into trying to rent something half-decent.Ignorance is never bliss.

Well, you can actually but the prices are high. Those Dutch people expect you to try to make deals with them. For example if they ask 1500$ a month + 2 month upfront they exepct you to reply you wanna give 750 a month and 1 month upfront. Kinda like selling a car lol..... they ask 1500 to get 1000 or less :-)Originally posted by Tipsy

Maybe it would have been 1000 for the Dutch folks in the first place, but I have yet to meet a homeowner who argues over the price of rent.

Well, that's what happened to me...... i saw some pics of the place, asked a friend over there to visit it and take some more pics and after i seen them all i called the houseowner adn asked him for the price... he asked 1750 a month and i well.... started to laugh. Don't get my wrong though, i would pay 1750 a month if it's worth it. After i laughed he asked what i would pay, i named my price and he said it was ok and we signed all papers and i wired the money and he gave the keys to my friend.Originally posted by Naughty

Thanks - may have to look into that a bit more. When I looked into it last time everything I found seemed to suggest property to rent was scarce. Mind you, we also looked into France and while there's plenty to rent there (fancied the idea of living up/near a mountain) the conditions you have to meet to rent in France can be scary.Originally posted by Naughty
