I agree. It's impossible to chat in AOL chatrooms. The spam IM's come at a rate of like one every 10-15 seconds, and sometimes a lot more.
They are also constantly hitting the chatrooms with bots using stolen AOL names.
I'm noticing it's the same group of sites over and over. They are fucked when AOL sues them over the mess they've caused. It wasn't anywhere near this bad just a month ago.Comment

Those AIM spammers are 98% newbies that make around $100 a month spamming if they're lucky. At night I've seen AIM rooms fill up with 35 bots in a 36 limit room spamming chat links. How lame is that? I just hate how these AIM spammers come to legit webmaster boards like GFY and start posting like they know shit.Comment

Those Aim spammers make more than you. So unless you make less than $100 a month your figures are off. mmmkayOriginally posted by SomeCreep

I'll take it you know this as a fact, but I must wonder when the last figures you heard of are dated. Because there's no way in hell an AIM chat, AOL chat or IM spammer is raking in the cash anymore.Originally posted by stocktrader23

If you go into an AOL chatroom you'll get over 100 spam IM's per hour. The chances of anyone even OKing the IM request is slim considering this.
A couple years ago IM spamming on AOL was rare (maybe you'd get a couple a day if you were in a chat), and I'm sure those doing it back then made big money. Even a few months ago it wasn't bad, but now it's totally out of control.
And yes, this is the sort of thing that can get the adult industry in trouble. We know what the difference is between a spammer and a legit webmaster. But to the general public, porn spam and porn on the internet in general is all in the same group.
To have started targeting AOL from within their service like this over the last few months is a bad, bad move. Just wait, AOL will stike back somehow.Comment
