Can you check to see if a domain name is trademarked online?

I bought an expired domain that was owned by a large company recently and I wanted to see if it's trademarked. The domain name has nothing to do with the companies business but they still link to the domain and it gets steady traffic. Thanks for any help.

Nice try. I believe it may be called an implied trademark or something similar.

Back in the day a lot of money was made from this type of thing....Then the larger companies got wise and started suing the pants off of people...And they actually won.

Mind if I ICQ you to pick your brain on the exact domain? The company that owned the domain sells clothing. The domain I purchased was a spoof site made during an advertising campaign. Not sure if that helps but eh.

I don't mind but I am far from well versed in this sort of thing. It is just something that I have picked up bits and peices of over the years.

Just cause someone has a trademark doesn't necessarily mean it will stay valid. If someone infringes on your mark for example and you don't defend it you can lose the rights to do so in the future.

Trademark law is extremely complex especially now with the Internet.

I'm a co-founder of a healthcare biz and we had a trademark registered and then over a 2 year period found several people using variations of our mark to try to start a biz off our name.

The business world is so vast today, you have to spend quite a lot of time and energy keep up with infringements on things you create. Its also expensive legally to pursue infringers.
