Ok... first, the tour needs a bit of work.. but I'm sure you got that from everyone else.

The content area.. my first thought was "fuck, too much content"... and then I realized that every niche link lead to a page of links to sponsor sites of that niche... do you have ANY content inside the side?

Good luck getting listed on AC.. but if you do, who knows... you might just frustrate the surfers enough to buy a sponsor membership.

Thanks... I got my start with AVS back in '96... I'm probably rusty as hell now and only have a handful of AVS sites (somewhere around 600), but I *try* to help where I can...

AVS is one of the smallest parts of our business, so don't take my word fully on it!

Thank you for the kind words... I try to reply productivly and I think you're about the 3rd person who's ever complimented me on it.

A few more observations ..

1) There are WAY too many banners and not nearly enough text ads... I'm not talking about text links (you have plenty of those), but actual promotional text to push a sponsor. An example would be a personal account as to WHY they NEED to join site so and so, take preggie.com for example ... I would give them 3 or 4 lines of text about how you joined and couldn't believe one site could have so many pictures and videos, etc...

2) Too many sponsors - Surfers are getting more intellegent, however they are still confused pretty easily - especially AVS and TGP surfers, who are normally fairly new to the net. You need to use the AVS site to guide them to click to your sponsor, or sponsors - but as soon as you are pushing more then 2 or 3 sponsors on the same site, you've just increased your chances for losing the upsell. I normally push a single sponsor on a TGP gallery or AVS site.

3) Niche it - Once you add some content to the AVS site (go and grab some free content from your favorite sponsor), use that content to get the surfer in the mood to see more. Tell them that if they click, they will see thousands of high quality pictures and hundreds of videos of similar content.

4) Be honest. You aren't being deceptive, but I wanted to touch base on this very quickly. If you are promoting a sponsor's site, be sure not to embellish what the site offers too much. If the site offers a few thousand pics, then go ahead and say "Thousands".. but don't say "Hundreds of Thousands". Why?
1) This is not only good business, but it will help get the surfer trusting you more and possibly coming back to your site to join another site you recommend.
2) Also, most sponsors will remove sales and or penalize the affiliate if you get a refund or chargeback. By not lying, you minimize the risk of it happening (it will probably still happen at times, but not nearly as often).
3) The FTC has a hard on for our industry already... it's best to not give them a reason to come down on you.

As for what I said in my earlier post about content... a normal (non-gold) AVS site should have, as a rule of thumb, around 30 pictures in 3 galleries. I'm not sure what all the AVSes require now so you need to check the rules on each, however I found 30 is a pretty optimal number -- less and the surfer doesn't get hard for more, more and the surfer is cleaning their keyboard out before they even click to your sponsor.

Anyone else have any good tips? Always looking to see what other people have to say and what advice they can give (I've been doing this for 7 years and the day I stop looking at what other people advise is the day I quit).
