Photographers - A question

I have this friend of mine who is pretty new to modelling, and she is thinking of starting her own paysite. A photographer contacted her, and wanted to do some shoots with her.

Now the thing is she is not sure how much is possible for her to get paid, under her requirements. Here is the deal:

She wants to have a payment for the shoot (about 4-5 hours x 2 days), plus she wants full semi-exclusive copyrights and legal rights to the produced content. The photographer said it was ok, that she got the semi-exclusive rights, he got the same rights, and 1 or 2 buyers get the same rights. So there will be about 3-4 owners of this content, and can not be sold to others.

Now the question is, how much would you as a photographer pay the girl for the two days shootings under these curcumstances?
Would $600 be a fair price to ask? (He doesn't have any other expenses on this girl, she would pay the travel and hotel herself).

if it was a straight barter deal where both photographer and model got the same rights she should be paid nothing.

We do it all the time with models, they get the photos for their websites, we get it for our own use, not reselling though.

There are some really sleazy content providers out there who lie to the girls.

I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. I've saved money, my hair is thicker, lost some weight too! Thanks Sly!

I see, thanks for your input! Btw what would the photographer use the content for? (His own paysite? Or do he just use it for his portfolio?)

Oh but wait, what about the fact that the photographer will sell the rights to one or two extra buyers, then the model should get paid something, right? How much?

Unless she was absolutely drop dead gorgeous i would tell her to go take a hike.

If she is prepared to enter into a deal where she takes the same risks as me. IE works for nothing and shares the sales, why should I pay her.

And she wants this with only 3-4 owners of the material. JOKE??

Assuming this guy cannot shoot for magazines then he is left with Internet sites who will pay $30-50 a set.

Girls get paid on the day and sign away their rights to the images.

Post a picture of her.

Blowout deal. 880 videos, 2,400 image sets, plus many RAW videos. $500.

Ok, think I got the picture She wouldn't let me post her pics, but I told her that she couldn't expect any payment for this sort of deals, I think she might have a little too big ideas of how much money she can make on this as a newbie ;)

I love when people say that, what about all that equiptment, the rent, utilities, money spent on training. Models forget photographers have spent tens of thousands of dollars before the first pics is taken. So it never costs the photographer nothing.

What everyoen else here said

if she wants right she gets no wage

if she wants the wage then she gets no cut

you cant it have it both ways.

as a model and content provider id have to say that speakign from my own experience in situations liek this - it best to take the money and run.

Unless she has 100% ownership of the content and full control over how is is used - shes gonna get screwed in more ways than one.

We shoot about 20 models each month ( most recover Ha Ha)
We pay them about $500 each and the shoot lasts about 4-5 hours both video and stills. If a model wants to use the stuff on her own site we dont shoot her and we would never pay her if it was a TFP deal. To pay a model $600 for a shoot she would have to be real special and maybe do some boy/girl stuff for us as well.

Too many variables, cause for alot of confusion and possible future problems.

Keep it legit:
Pay the photographer to do the shoot and keep the images
or he pays you modelling fees and keeps the images.
Get everything on paper/contract so there's no he said/she said.

This tfp stuff is fine for personal use, portfolios etc..
but can cause serious headaches if one decides to sell or publish the images.
