A GSX is an AWD turbo... a light, AWD Turbo, and I have seen them push 340 hp with less than 10k invested... so for 20k you can toast a 50k car... (as long as it didn't have the big stupid wing. then you would lose by default)
BUT.
BMW IS the ultimate driving machine. At the end of the day, the BMW guy still had heated leather seats, premium everything, and carbon filter so if he shit himself he couldn't smell it.SIG TOO BIG! I have an 88 M3 that will put the hurting on I would say 95% of the cars on the road.... but your right.... a honda with 30k under the hood will be very fast..... but BMW comes from the factory with almost everything done to it... and I think that the new M3's come with like 300 hp.... it's all abuot the 850csi or the 750 i if you ask me...... and BMW has an awd car now as well... it's like the 330xi or ix something like that... I can't ever take my car out without one of them trying to race me. Rims and a spoiler do NOT make a hotrod and as far as I know a kickass stereo has never added horsepower to a car. Ditto for their Recaro seats with the 5 point restraints.I like pie.Comment

I just took delivery in FEB of an '03 M3SMGII,and BMW did take away the button for launch on it.The dealer said it was because there were too many engines being destroyed in the US.There is still a sequence you can do manually with the sport button to engage it.I tried it once after I got my 3000 mile breakin and its wild.Originally posted by jimmy3way

i didn't make the video, nor is it my car. the kid who's car it is is not the most knowledgable but he gets by and picks his parts well, probably since his parents are buying. _however_, his car was capable of and _did_ beat the shit out of that m3.
the m3 was racing. the gsx is awd and i have logs of that car, that motor, and that fp "green" turbo @ 18psi with 0 knock making around 350 _wheel_ horsepower. compare that to an m3's 330 _flywheel_ horsepower and rwd, not to mention the m3 is around 300 pounds heavier. it got SMOKED, and would again against any well-tuned eclipse/talon with a big turbo, including both of mine.
his motor blew up because of raw power. he bent and snapped his stock rods, he was running with 0 knock, moderate intake temps, plenty of fuel, and simply overpowered his weakest parts.
dont know if the kid has a body kit and altezza lights or not, but 400+bhp on pump gas and 470+ on race in an awd car will piss all over you from a stoplight any day of the week -- and if you think nothing can outhandle your bmw in the twisties, you know jack shit about modifying cars.Comment

An Eclipse is a nice car but will never hold ground to an M3 even if it is faster. Eclipse was designed to be a low-cost alternative to Mitsubishi's upper-scale sports car, the 3000GT. The M3 on the otherhand was designed with speed AND luxury in mind. It doesn't need a fart-can exhaust to make it sound 'fast'.Comment
