from the online reviews, it beats the VX2000

dunno much about the GL2, I just know everyone that has the Sony LOVES it.

what accessories would you recommend with it besides the tripod and charger, drunkdollars?

The Sony is a better camera.

Wide angle lens is a must as is extra life battery

A mic and a light will also come in handy.

Mostly the mic, battery, and lens. I spent $300.00 for a 2nd 9hr battery and the 10/20 light and I rarely use it.

I like it. That is the small one and I initially bought it for use with my TRV27...If you are going to get one to use with the VX2000, I suggest getting the larger model.

There are better tripods on the market but having the control right there is pretty usefull.

Im not sure the brand of ours. Its a .42x high definition thing.

Mine is a Kenko KRW-065 PROII 0.65x

As I recall, It was stickered at about $300 but I think I paid about $200 for it.

I think .42 x is about as wide as you can go without seeing the black ring when zoomed all the way out..

This is without space or step up down ring..

Cause that is what the video man suggested for my use. This particular lens was also the widest he knew of that does not produce the ring you just mentioned.

Considering that the salesman is also a pro videographer and I have seen a lot of his work...I trusted his input.

3700 isn't that much higher, I got 4k cash in my wallet right now. Is the Panasonic a higher end camera or did you just mean they're basically the same?

It is a better camera. If you want to spend more then try comparing the Panasonic to the Canon XL1s then buy one of those.

First ask yourself what the camera is going to be used for. If it is for web stuff then the VX2000 is overkill enough. Why spend the extra dough?

I take this back...Don't buy the Canon...I say this for one reason and it is just a personal preferance.

I like a flip out LCD screen for shooting. The canon XL1s does not have this. They do sell an additional attachment screen but I have better things to attach to my cameras.

I can't argue with that.

No personal experience with that camera but by the specs and reviews of individuals, not companies, I would say it is worth looking into.
