4 years is a bit excessive, 1 year is as much a deterrent as 4, unless you want to give him the death penalty. Its a stupid joke from a stupid person, the punishment should fit the crime, 4 years is way too much. 1 year I'm not so much against and then depending on circumstances, but 4 is pushing it, then again its a maximum.Originally posted by JDog

I had a similair experience years ago ( before 9-11 )
I was in the x-ray line and there was some sign up that said something about letting the security know if you had explosves or a bomb. And i made an off-hand comment about making sure i had checked my pockets for any spare bombs i may have forgotten. And the security overheard me and whisked me away into a little room. They made me remove my piercings and fly them in the cargo hold

When i was in JFK years ago, i noticed they have this little trick , if you show up lat to check in they stick this little sticker on your carry on bag, and if a security agent see's you he is supposed to stop and search you. SO im walking through the airport ( not knowing this ) and this lady comes up and says follow me and takes me into this little room and strip searches me ( no cavity search thank god ) But not 5 minutes after she lets me go , does another agent come up to me and does the same routine. So after searching me i go on my way again , only to be stopped and searched a third time. So i ask the guy " why have i been searched 3 times in like 10 minutes ) and he explained the sticker on my briefcase. so after he lets me go i ripped off the sticker and threw it in the garbage. No more searches

It was a dumb ass move, but it is easy to get pissed when you are searched for the 5 time in literally 10 meters.
My advice is to use your state driving ID stateside and not your passport as ID.
If you have an immigration stamp from watchlist countries (border countries to hot spots etc....) you're going to be flagged with a "SSSS" or "Special" mark on your ticket.
Or the new "yellow or red" code.
