Better question, what the fuck if there is no husband? There won't be unless you change your thinking.

Here's another one, what were you put on earth for? Work?

Hahaha, go to sleep young girl. Come back and have this conversation when that maternal clock starts ticking.

Unless you go lesbo, which seems pretty possible with your outlook.

I could ask you the same thing? What were you put on this earth for, work?

I don't know why I was put on earth for, but I don't want to have kids, so that ain't it. So I'll say that I was put on earth to live my life and enjoy my life in every way I want, without answering to anyone.

Then they could adopt a kid so it has two moms and ends up more fucked up than anyone ever thought possible.

I was never a "motherly" person or someone who goes googoo
and gagga over kids, so don't worry about my maternal clock, it won't click anytime soon. Yeah, perhaps I will go lesbo, I'd rather
be with a girl than narrow minded chauvinistic people like ummm..

                How are we being chauvinistic?

Women and men are here to reproduce.

Women are better caregivers for children than men by design.

Men were made for work in order to take care of the woman and kids.

This is the way we are made.

I could argue and point out all kinds of resons why what I have been saying is true but nature provides the best argument anyone could give.

My wife works full time, and maintains a 4.0 in college, shes getting her bachelors degree, then moving on to her masters.. She will eventually work in childrens hospital, delivering babies, and helping children.. she will be paying my bills eventually... but for now I help out with all of hers =)

I think that both in the relationship should work as they need to, Work can be defined as taking care of the house, kids, or being super career person. Its all work, no matter the pay be in cash or personal satisfaction.

Being married a few years now, as well having a very demanding career that has me putting in 14 hours days with my business and her career doing almost the same, we have realized that you both have to work together to cover it all.

I do housework, yardwork, taking care of little ones and also, I get into my offfices at the house here and kick out deals for my comapny to make loot, then back into over the road working for days on end.

No matter how you live there are certain things that have to get done in the course of living together. Who does them isnt important since they HAVE to get done at the end of the day, and to me its all about enjoying each others time.

There were times she stayed home and just did housewife stuff and I worked my balls off at the comapny to make the loot. Then she wanted to get a job and we then did more of a split of all chores.

Suitations in life will take you both through many changes, Just keep you mind open to adapting. There is no such thing as mans' work or woman's work, its all about taking care of each other and being there to help her or him no matter what.

                    It works......

                      damn this thread is crazy.

i like to work and i hate to not have money for something and i get so extremely bored with just being a housewife..kids will fucking drive you nuts if that is all you do. i work full time at home for the past 4 years ..i have 3 children my husband and i both raise..i do most of the inside household chores, and hubby and i split the outside chores, he works 4 days on then has 4 days off and makes a bit more than me now..(yeah i quit being the breadwinner)

I think you cro mags on here should lighten up..this isnt the year 1800..and most households need two incomes. whatever happened to being an individul and letting one make their own decisions..there is no right and no wrong in this discussion..only opinions.

Well you know what CU, I think you have an ideal situation.

Yes, a lot of people need two incomes to make it... BUT if you don't, then the kids need to be the other partners job and if there is some free time then there is room for other choices.

I didn't say anything about cooking and cleaning or whatever. A maid can be hired for that. Personal time with the kids is what I'm talking about.

How can anyone argue with that?

Raising kids is a JOB! A real job and one to be respected. Its totally necassary and no one can do it better than a woman.

No one said anything about a 'man needing to take care of you.' Thats the friggin' problem with you girls. You can't equate doing your part for the well being of society and a man playing what has been his role as nature has intended since time began with being a lazy kept chick.

Get over that way of thinking. A career for you is nice if you have no kids but let me ask you this, what's more important, raising a kid correctly or having a job?

Everybody has a role. We were made a certain way to play those roles. Why argue?
Dude, you hit the nail right on the head.. Raising kids IS a big job, so is taking care of a house etc. It's important for the future of the WORLD, because we're raising the next generation of world citizens.. Somewhere, somehow, that's been lost over the last few decades.

Myself, I am an at-home mommy, but I also work full-bore with JACT Content. I'm also a mainstream photographer.. I do stock photography, product photography, portraiture, etc. I've been published internationally several times. I also have several other business ventures and occassionally do some design on the side. I'm a busy beaver, but hey, I am PROUD of what I have, can, and will accomplish. My kids though, they are my greatest accomplishment of all, and they never cease to fill me with pride, amaze me, amuse me, and fill me with love and awe.

Chick, you need to stop acting like the fact that there are women who have and raise children is a personal attack on you. I am a mother and I'm happy with that choice. You are not, and I'm glad you're happy with that decision. Everyone has to have their own gig. Some people aren't meant to have kids, and it's important to recognize that! In fact, I respect the fact that you've made that decision and realize that children aren't part of your game plan BEFORE you go and have a child you aren't happy raising.

It's just that simple. Then again, I think there needs to be some kind of "humanity" or "aptitude" test for being a parent. It's not hard to pop out a brood of kids, but it doesn't automatically make you a parent. I've seen it far too often, especially where I live, in a small town. There's nothing to do here but have kids and smoke drugs.. And everyone's on welfare because they keep popping out kids. And most of them should never have been parents in the first place.

lol, you had a lazy huh? The only permanant indentation I make is in my office chair. I take care of my wife and she takes care of me. I put in 80 to 100 every week, no time for TV or remotes.

Always been the breadwinner also (made more then both my ex's). I feel I'm stronger and better off for it all now.

Why argue?

I totally agree with you! Thats the problem with kids today, when they are old enough they sit at home & let Nintendo be their "parent". If you are fortunate enough to have one parent stay at home, then by all means, for your childs sake, stay at home! Perhaps I am a bit old fashined, but when you have a family, I totally agree the wife should stay home & manage the house/child. My God, do you not think that is a full-time job within its self?!

i think that child raising is both parents duty..do you know how many kids grow up with no real relationships with their father cause he always working? too many

my hubby and I do fun things with our kids together and we do fun things without the kids and we do fun things by ourselves while one or the other is watching the kids.

child rearing is hard as hell now adays and i think it takes both parents (if present) to help the children become productive adults...some have no choice in this matter and i would never put someone down cause they had to work and put their kids in daycare...lame.

When my girls were small, I worked part-time evening in data entry and when they were about 5 and 6 I opened my own little retail store for 6 years.. I love to work but I do something flexible around their schedules..I did retail management in corporations for about 3 years but bosses don't understand stuff like doctor appointments, school functions and music lessons...

My parents had me young, and my mother did the housewife thing while dad worked a blue collar job.

When they split up it was terrible. My mother had no job skills and had my sister and I to take care of with barely enough child support to pay the rent.

So I grew up with the knowledge- 1) don't have kids unless you are ready, and 2) don't depend on anyone else for your livelihood.

If you are saying he controlled you and didn't let you have your freedom that is a different story.

This is the exact thing I am wondering about. Can someone tell me how raising your kids and taking care of your home costs you your freedom? I can't comprehend it. It would seem that having the opportunity to spend as much time with your children as possible should be considered freedom compared to those that must work for their family to make ends meet.

It was a hard road before finishing my studies but wirth wild... And yes my X was spychologicly abusive controlative and manipulative man...For me freedom is not just time wize... Its about being myself, happy fufilled, selfestime and yes freedom to go and do as i please. And I do work hard to make sure the bills are paid and its hard to be there as much as my kids would love it... Funny thing when MOM is happy the kids as well.. WE sherish each moment we can so quality of time is important... Thanks for asking hun...

You know, I would love not to work, but I am so materialistic. If a man was able to supply all my beautiful STUFF for me, I would nt work. But working also makes you a more productive person. If I didnt work I would be sooo lazy. Sleeping all the time and shit.
But I would love a man to make it so I did not have to work.

Somewhere along the line stuff got twisted around with the womens libbers. I think it is the most important one and she should be compensated nicely for it.

The optimum situation is one like PK's. She may be a smut pusher but I bet her kids are taken care of better than most.
It's not the women who "don't respect child rearing as a legitimate job." It's society as a whole.....

I have been a working mom, a SAHM and am now a WAHM...I've done it all.

In my experience, the only situation I have been in that was acceptable to society is being a WAHM. If you choose to stay at home with the kids you are seen as lazy and not wanting to work and contribute to society. If you work out of the home, you are seen as selfish and not thinking of your children's best interest. But if you are a WAHM, you are seen as contributing to society and your bank account AND being there for the kids. It's just wrong for women to feel this way.

The pressures women feel to be the 'Indispensible Woman' are very real and very frustrating.

Everybody has a role. We were made a certain way to play those roles. Why argue?
If it's a real job, then try to add that to YOUR resumee and see what happends LOL Besides, not many families can live on just one income.

Just because I'm a female doesn't mean I'm born with a broom. I hate cleaning and have maid. What ever roles you're talking about doesn't apply anymore - the times have changed and we have changed with them.
We need our careers just as you do - especially since the divorce rate is, what 50% or so? Then what do we do? Chase down the next 'bread winner'??

When I have kids then yes, I will probably work atleast part time. But give up everything that comes with having a job? I don't think so!

                                                                  My hubby:

He does so much more than that too...including returning home with that chocolate bar I happened to mention I was craving 2 days ago, or a special coffee he picked up from Starbucks just for me. He's very thoughtful.

They REALLY are out there!! My hubby has a few friends if yer interested.

It's nice to see there are women who understand the importance of child rearing and that it has priority over working. If you work at home that is just as acceptable to me as being a housewife. Again, the whole point is to be there for the kids. A man has to have a relationship with them too but men have a different way of thinking and relating. The husband working 80-100 hours a week is a bit more acceptable than mom doing it.

If a man isn't bringing in enough to compensate push that lazy bastard to make more.

Gardening, sewing clothes for the entire family to wear, growing food, gathering water from the wells, keeping the animals healthy. Being a housewife way back when was a full time job.
That is hard work in itself.
But now all of those chores are done for us by machines, and stores we go buy the stuff in.
Now days being a housewife is not nearly as time consuming as it would have been then.
Unless, that is you have like 7 kids because that is a decision you and your spouse made together.

If you are going to have a large family, I dont think the mother or father one should work, because than the children dont get the attention that they need. Then the world has more fucked up, neglected kids running around.

I agree with everything Herb Kornfield said, except I didn't express it so eloquently because I was rather frustrated by some of the responses from the people here. He is exactly right, there is no woman's or man's work, just work that needs to be done.

Even then I went back to work before I should have. Always been the breadwinner also (made more then both my ex's). I feel I'm stronger and better off for it all now.

It doesn't matter which one does it, husband or wife, but whoever ain't makin the bacon needs to make themselves useful.

If you need two incomes to make it the whole discussion is out the window, it's 50-50, which is obvious to anyone who doesn't want to argue just for the hell of it lol

Why should I be deprived of her all week, and why should she be out doing a no-fun job when her weekly paycheck = about an hour's worth of porn money?
