    How often does your host do maintenance?

    Man it seems like my host is always doing maintenance and they always need to do something. It seems like once a week they need to update the network. The maintenance they do usually takes 3-5 hours. How often should a host do maintenance?

      Webhosts are constently doing maitnenec with new Patch Relesaes for the software bug fixes and Security Fixes ..... if you setup the network right should hardly ever need to do hard ware upgrades and software upgrades shouldnt cuase downtime ....

          Well since I work for you and all my sites are on the same host. THEY DO IT TOO FUCKING OFTEN!!

              a host will do maintenance daily but it should never affect clients...the only time clients should notice something is if there is third party maintenace that is not always easy to avoid but if your with a good datacentre and good bandwidth provider normally they setup things correctly the first time and things are fine from there

              the perfect host will setup a client and the client should be able to go with out ever needing to contact support accept for when they need domains or emails added thats what my host aims for anyway

                  I can count my total hours 'completely down time' since 1995 on my fingers with a few missing.

                      Well I think our host is fast and reliable but it is just the damn maintenance that is just awful. This week it is Update routing configuration on network equipment .

                                      I've been down twice in 6 years.. (Save, that doesn't include server reboots).. Including server reboots I've been down 5 times in 6 years.

                                          Um yeah we were never ever down until this bigger company bought the hosting company we were with in January 2003. Now it has been network maintenance 4 times in just 3 weeks this is just ridiculous.

                                          Please list any suggestions for hosting companies, we have a year contract with our current host but fuck it.
