    Video Card Problem

    I have a NVidia TNT Model 64 (32MB) Video card running on Windows XP Pro.

    The other day out of nowhere, I got a blue screen error saying that my video card driver got stuck into a "loop" and my computer had to be shutdown. It also said there was a problem with a file "NV4" which im guessing is the driver.

    After that, things were cool, Untill I tried to play a video on windows media player. My mouse would lock up and I got the same error whenever I tried to play ANY video. (On the HD or Streaming).

    I went to NVidia's website and downloaded an updated driver. Installed it and I'm still getting the same error whenever I try to play a video.

    Few things Ive tried:

    - Did a system restore to a day before the first error
    - Reduced my res to 1024x768
    - Went down to 16bit
    - Reinstalled and updated DirectX
    - Went to Windows update
    - Reinstalled the video card completly 3 times
    - Updated video card drivers

    Nothing is working so far. I only get the blue screen when I try to play any video file. I really don't feel like formatting but I think I'm going to have to. I've had this video card for about 8 months and it's worked great untill now.

    Any ideas from anyone?

      Geez man.. Get a new video card, I really feel sorry for you. Can't believe some people still have those cards

                  I don't game on my PC anymore because I have xbox and PS2 so it's fine for what I use it for. Just working

                      i had some problems with my card also causing system freezing

                      i took the card out cleaned it good and no problems since

                          Heck, if you don't game, just go out and get a Geforce 4 440 MX for $50, at least it'd be something for ya that's newer and cheaper, so you wouldn't be wasting money on a gaming card.

                                      Yeah. I'd still suggest you buy another one. Don't need to buy a Radeon 9800 but you can get a Ti4200. It's cheap and you will be able to play multiplayer games like BF1942 (Trust me, you will leave your XBox and PS2 for a couple of days)

                                          Yeah, that's true, I just priced an ASUS Ti4200 retail version over at New Egg which comes with Morrowind, Black Thorn, Worms Blast, plus some demos. It has free 3-4 day shipping for only $135, you surely can't beat that.

                                          BF1942 rocks, I have an All-In-Wonder Radeon 9700 Pro and it looks beautiful.

                                              Oh I used to game ALOT on my PC. I raced online with a really cool racing leauge for 2 yrs. That's my fav type of games, racing. Ghost Recon I also played alot on the PC. I also had that Microsoft Flight Sim 2002 Pro. It was neat to fuck around with too. Really good graphics. Also played few kiddie type games too with my daughter. I just don't really get into gaming on the PC anymore since XBOX live came out.

                                                  Forget the GeForces. Go with the Radeon 9500 NON-Pro-- And software clock (softhack) it to a Radeon 9800.

                                                  It works with certain Radeon 9500 Non-Pro with a L-memory configuration.

                                                      open control panel--hardware.. check what driver files are installed. Write them down... install a standard VGA driver for that card and after that delete all the NV driver files manually. Restart... reinstall the card
