Yes, it's a very suspicious photo. What I missed was the part that justified your subject line.
I see the BBC mentioned, but the BBC is an independent entity, funded by a tax. It doesn't have to beg money from the British Government the way US Public Broadcasting does (and even there, PBS could hardly be described as a bastion of rightism).
The funny thing is how you go leap right past any facts to the conclusion that we all know is constantly in the back of your mind: how EVIL the US government is, along with anyone who works with them.
So, let's grant the photo is faked. Did you ask yourself what makes this a photo of a crowd happy to see Hussein overthrown? I see nothing in the photo that would justify that conclusion. This could be based on some file photos of some Egyptians protesting the high price of lamb. How many happy faces do you see? The point being, if one wanted to doctor a photo to show how happy the Iraqis are at the removal of Saddam, why wouldn't they show us a crowd of happy faces?
I suppose what makes it a photo of ecstatic Iraqis is whoever wrote the caption. Have you ever worked on a newspaper? Sometimes whoever writes the caption can be fairly clueless.
Once again, you leap to the anti-American conclusion without the facts to back it up.
I guess I have enough of a belief in the technical competence of the US information agencies to think that if they did put together a photo like that, they would have done a much better job.SIG TOO BIG! I assume that when they say the BBC was the source of the photo, they mean the original untouched photo. That leaves the Evening Standard doing some photomanipulation. You have to ask yourself why ?
Why is a second rate, evening only, London only, paper forging photos ?
Add this to the 'dossier', the 'WMD' that don't exist and the 'nuclear triggers' that never were, and it just looks like a imperialist rogue state out of control to me. No wonder the UN wants to keep sanctions on that part of the US empire. In 1904, Charles Newman-Berry connected two abacus's together using specially enhanced GrapeVine thus inventing the first Internet connection.

Conspiracy Sites Scamming Again!
From:
http://www.thememoryhole.org/media/e...dard-crowd.htm
Doctored Photo from the London Evening Standard
On 9 April 2003, the London Evening Standard's front page contained a blurry image supposedly showing a throng of Iraqis in Baghdad celebrating the toppling of Saddam Hussein. What we are really looking at is an incredibly ham-fisted attempt at photo manipulation.

Here is the front page from Apr 9 that I pulled from their website.

Isnt 'news' in this day and age the equivalent of 'content' anyway?
News is meant to make money through sales and ratings, Models are meant to sell memberships. Is there that much difference?
I think you are right to be suspicious of all mainstream news but dont most intelligent people (the only ones that matter) accept news with a grain of salt anyway?<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="3" border="1" bgcolor="#008000"><tr><td><font size=3>Gone</font></td></tr></table>Comment

How about because it was built up on the backs of thousands and thousands of Black Slaves over the past 200 years? How about that for why it is not fucking great?!?!? Not too hard to build a massive economy when you go to Africa pick up as many 'savages' as you can hold and bring them back to work for absolutely nothing, and then keep on using them for ages after the world dictates how wrong slavery is..The US had the highest GDP of any country in history last year. Why is that not GREAT?

In any event, the US economy was built on a combination of unfettered capitalism and good post-world war positioning. Take your knee-jerk radical liberal nonsense and stick it up your ass.

Please do tell me for how long, after slavery was abolished everywhere else in the world, the USA still deemed it acceptable..
It is like driving in a race, and then on the 10th lap you take away the last 4 gears of every car except for one.. Your gun loving redneck imbred ancestors kept on putting those slaves to work long after the rest of the world realised how wrong it was and actually had to start paying people to produce their products, its not nonsense it is fucking history, go pick up a book not published by your massive propaganda machine which brainwashes you from birth into thinking you are the most wonderful friendliest place in the world.."Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music."

Budget deficit grows
Year-to-date fiscal shortfall expands to more than $250 billion, prior to April's tax receipts.
April 18, 2003: 3:01 PM EDT
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. government posted a deficit in March of $58.71 billion, the Treasury Department said Friday, bringing the year-to-date fiscal shortfall to more than a quarter of a trillion dollars.
Halfway through the 2003 budget year and ahead of April's annual flood of income tax receipts, the government's balance sheet was in the red by $252.65 billion, compared to a deficit of $131.92 billion in the same period in the prior budget year.

Might be difficult for you to explain why the US didn't become the largest economy in the world until more than twenty years after emancipation or how it has managed to stay so for more than 100 years now.Originally posted by unconnected
