    Vbulletin Pro's (aka JT) can you help me?

    There is a message on the main board page, it usually reads like this,

    "If this is your first visit, be sure to check out the FAQ by clicking the link above. You may have to register before you can post: click the register link above to proceed. To start viewing messages, select the forum that you want to visit from the selection below."

    It's referred to as the !-- guest welcome message -- in the code, but for the life of me I can't find where that actual text is so I can modify it. I've even searched at the vbulletin site with no luck.

    Can anyone help? It's for a mainstream board by the way. No competition to anyone here.

      if it's vb2, look in your "forumhome_unregmessage" template.


      if it's vb3 look in your "FORUMHOME" template.

          Can't you do a search in the templates for the text you are looking for?

                  So far in VB3, I've been able to do everything I've wanted to except that.

                          Just have a program search all the files locally on your machine... that should give you insights on where to find it.

                                      smartypants, I am not familiar with the workings of vB, but I simply thought that all the usual shit is stored in templates that are stored somewhere. And why exactly can't you search those templates for the particular string?

                                                  vb templates aren't actual files, they're stored in mysql.

                                                  though there is a template search in the admincp, it apparently went unnoticed.

                                                                  I thought I had to modify the actual text file (which is what I couldn't find)

                                                                      my screen shots are probably from an earlier vb3 release (3.0.0 beta 7) than what you're running, that would explain the differences.. they're up to the second release candidate now..

                                                                      looks like maybe they're making it even more ridiculous than it already was : )
