Back in the day of inefficient compression most free vids were only around 5 or so seconds long and converted like a mofo.
Anything longer than that, allows for surfers to blow there wad without whipping out a payment.

amen to that! I ran a movie post years ago, and loved the 10-15sec clips, they converted like gold....this big movie craze started up as I decided to leave the movie post game...
I know I could wank for free on any number of those sites, and I'm an old jaded webmaster...
