100$ contest, to fix jasons icq,

ok, im very serious, Ive already spent multiple hours and days on this,

and im about to lose my mind,

ive given up on my history I just want to get icq working,

here is the problem, you help me fix it, im gonna send you 100$

its very simple,

ok, the porblem is this,

icq freshly installed, the latest version

it takes 4 minutes to load on my XP computer, p4, 2.66 gigs,

way to long of course,

then it gives me the same 4 messages all the time, which I must close, no matter what I do these messages keep comming back,

also I try to clean up my list and delete contacts but they come back the next time I use, it,

also aside from not having a history, it only records new history, until I close icq,

then on the next usage the history is gone, so its not recording new history,

so as far as I can tell icq, is froozen in time,

it does not seem to know I have seen the icqs before, that I have deleted certain users, and it does not record new history,

it does how ever let me ad new people, but I cant tell if its giving me all the messages sent to me while im offline,

now Ive unistalled and Ive run database converter,

Ive re installed new, I dont think the problem is on my end,

if my icq number totally fucked, for ever? or can this mess be fixed

we nead to get this, thing, loading faster, and let me delete the peeps on here I dont talk to, and start working properly and at least recording new history, so I can remeber who people are when they talk to me,

the newest versions of ICQ sucks.

go to http://www.oldversion.com and download
something like the 2001b version or similar.

fixed all my problems, at least on my side.

and btw, Jason is a really nice guy
and he responds to his emails..

I'm with those 2, either get rid of all referrences on your box to reinstall raw, or d/l 2001b.

If you've given up on saving anything like history with your old ICQ, this is the way to redemption, brother.

if I install, 2001b, I will lose my contact correct????

since I dont want to keep moving aroudn the 200mb hostory file I have on disk,

I want the contacts and not the hostory,

and I dont see a way to install a old version without importing them both ,

unless I send the contacts to another icq number and then send them back, that might work,

I used to run ICQ lite.. which sucked big fat donkey balls...
horrbile to use.. and i was afraid to move back to an older
version...

I took a chance and did it, installed ICQ 2001b, and not only
it work tons of time better, but it automatically imported
my contact list back from the ICQ database.

I will say, give it a try, it might relieve all those
headaches you are getting.

ok, I am gonna give you this WIERDASS info cuz I had the same prob with my firewall, and I did THIS and it worked.

go into bios
where it says AGP OPERTURE SIZE, put 1 step lower, when I did that my firewall was working right away.

so put it 1 step lower and restart your pc, I hope this works for you the same way it did for me!!!

sorry if the info I gave you isint really convincing, I have no reason whatsoever to make you break your pc...

the way I see it, if it doesnt change anything, put it back to original settings?

my ati radeon 9700 pro was on 128mb AGP overture, and I put it @ 64 to see if my lagging problems would disapear, and then I realised that my firewall that usually took around 45 seconds to load loaded instantly with my ICQ and mouse software!

anyways, if you dont want to try it out, dont, it doesnt bother me.
Im just saying if it worked for me, it could work for you, and if it doesnt, put it back to original settings? I dont think there can be any damage done

ok I would like to anouce that 2 hours later it is all fixed,

and I want to thank pantymaniac

he spent the last 2 hours with me on icq and email fixing my shit,

the solution,

was to unistall icq, and use the registry cleaner to get the shit out

and then reinstall icq lite, and all works great, loads in 10 seconds, and everything is working again,

so thank to pany maniac for talking the time

you win the 100$,

which he does not even want to take, stand up guy,

thanks to everyone else for your help,

and fuck you to the guy who gave me shit about my email skills
