wow.. they folded pretty fucking quickly... im still kinda thinking it isn't over yet.. like theres a sting in the tail we're chasing... like they're lulling the army into a false sense of security.. then again bagdad is pretty big, they probably only have control over half the city..

You are correct the city is not totally ours at this point in time. Currently US forces only control a few small pockets within the city. But it is being reported that over the next twenty-four hours US forces will be doubled inside the city. In addition it is being reported that there is not any longer any organized resistence. All of the Repulican Guard Divisions have been destroyed. I saw two different reports about the number of tanks the Iraqi's have left in all of Iraq. One report said 29 tanks and another said 12 tanks and it could have been a later report. There will still be some light resistence but the city is basically ours. Once more forces enter the city they will begin to move into all quarters of the city. What resistence that is faced will only be light weapons which is not very effective against armor.

The city of Tikrit still has to be taken and I understand that it is a large city around the size of Basra. It is being softened up daily with air strikes. There is still some resistence in the North but once our forces began moving North it will quickly collapse.

They are working in unison with our own Special Operation Forces as they always do when we engage our military. The Aussies are always there with us.

Common knowledge among career military. British and Australian SAS are among the best trained and toughest of the tough.

you won't see much, it's not just our commando's either, that type of unit is a forward unit US UK and Australian commando's would have been among the first to slip into Bagdad to take out the Iraqi positions affecting the regulars. the Australian government has a media blackout on our troop's movements, in part because many of them are elite special ops and in part because support for the war here is lower so they want to keep a lid on the daily reminders.
it's just that their whole function is sticking their neck *way* out, making your statement particularly insulting.

Well, I'll definitely get up to speed on the Aussie participation and assistance. I simply wasn't aware they were in coordination with US troops in Baghdad. Of course special ops put their necks way out. And get little if any credit.

EDIT: I have nothing against Australia. They were one of the first to back us after 9/11.
