We had the same thing, we where giving away this great $1000 gifts like the Nokia 9290, the Pentax x7 digibino, the Palm Tungsten and many more, but every time they contacted me saying that they wanted cash.
I know if I was getting cash my wife would spend it in the Gap shop and I will never get to have my Xbox or Tungsten, so no cash for me please
