Yeah we do.....with the industry becoming more fragmented than it was say five years ago it is much harder I think for a new webmaster to make the wise decisions. while I'm here, sure.
I've been promoting mostly mainstream niches on a $35 per signup sponsor and I do ok with them.
I found this microniche 50/50 rev share that been an easy sell, usually around 1:100 and retains a little above average, but since it's a microniche theres not a lot of traffic for it.
My ROI for promoting mainstream stuff is about 300% and my ROI for the microniche is about 3000%. But I make more money with the mainstream because it has a much bigger audience and because there aren't many places to advertise the microniche.
So should I keep doing what I'm doing, focus on whats bringing me the most money and continue pushing the microniche lightly, or should I take a big risk and ditch the mainstream and promote the microniche like crazy and hope it works?
I mean I look at people like Quiet, Marc De and Lensman and they make money because they sell popular sites that have the biggest audience.Last edited by Marcus; 04-02-2003, 12:38 PM.Comment

I think you have to keep up your mainstream stuff and find EXTRA time to work the micro niche. Like most micro niches, it will probably cool in time and you don't want to lose focus on the mainstream stuff and then have to start over when the micro niche slows.Originally posted by Marcus

If you spend 10 hours a day working now, work 11 hours and spend that extra hour on the micro.

another question this way please
if I run 5 galleries and buy 1 million hits to each of them from choker, and the gallery is nice and the sponsors convert o.k, what is a ideal CTR? and by the end of the month, should I be very well-off? or still a long way to go?
thanx again!

Well, you can usually find girls to work for cheap but since the action is always the same, you'll need a variety of girls. I could guess at what it would cost but you really won't be sure until you talk to models. keep the shoot short.Originally posted by vegas2003

Then for the paysite, use someone elses back end as filler for your site (like holio)

Ok, a REAL question...
I run a small-mid sized TGP (20K+ uniques daily). It was pretty easy to get here, but my traffic has stopped increasing. I'm doing link trades, I have no blind links, and the quality of my galleries is decent. What can I do to boost traffic? Or, why isn't it increasing?Comment

you need to step up and better your trades. to keep growing, you've got to trade with other TGPs who are bigger than you. This is a major challenge and this is where a lot of TGPs fail.Originally posted by NineNine

I'm already trading with some big ones, but I don't force hits with blind links. But, I'm concerned that if I do that, I'll piss off surfers so that they won't come back, and will *never* buy anything from me. Should I use a moderate amount of blindlinks, or play it straight? I'm interested in becoming a big TGP, and I'm not so interested in a quick buck (but that's always nice, too). So, to force or not to force?Originally posted by 12clicks

What are some other things I can do to make money besides tgp'ing? I have a little money I can invest to try new things.
Right now I'm at the mercy of the gallery reviewer if he feels like listing me or not, and especially now with all the hosted galleries it's really getting extremely hard to get listed.
I tried google ppc but I broke even with it, I did freesites but the traffic I got from them was so low it was a waste of time so I stopped.
The only 2 things I haven't tried are top lists and avs sites.
I've asked this question everywhere and NOONE will/can answer it, even thought I'm willing to pay money for the answerLast edited by Marcus; 04-02-2003, 01:14 PM.Comment

mine is, fuck the surfer! If you run your site to not piss of the surfer, you'll never make big money. (even the hun fucks the surfer a little) Your surfers are NOT surfing to make you happy. they aren't thinking"if I don't buy something from NineNine, he won't give me good galleries" so why should you think "if I piss off surfers they won't buy something"?
you need volume, not loyalty. Now I'll admit you have to find a balance but if you get the same people coming to your site everyday, that means one thing: they are getting what they want from you. you want them to not quite get enough from you so they ARE tempted to buy something.

I really think the way to go is to make your own paysite. ccbill and jettis make it too easy NOT to have your own paysite. With it, you can make money a million ways. make deals with TGPs for steady traffic, buy exits, etc. Its a buyers market, take advantage of it.I'm not a dinosaur, I'm a crocodile. No, I think there's still plenty of money to be made. Especially for video. prices might be down now but producing content is more than just shooting chicks, you gotta be able to market to webmasters as well. If no one knows who you are, how are they going to buy your stuff?Originally posted by docomofo
Is there any money left in producing content anymore...seems like the market is saturated and much of it is comming out of the old eastern block, dragging the price down.
