Halliburton gets contract to put out fires

God damn, that's too funny, Kellogg, Brown & Root got the contract to put out the fires in Iraq.

KBR is a subsidiary of Dallas Texas based Halliburton, which VP Dick Cheney ran prior.

No shocker there. Wait until they start building the pipeline from Iraq through Afgahnistan and Turkey to the Atlantic ocean. Then this war will become very clear.

I think this is just wrong. My friend Joe who owns "Joe's Acme Construction and Oil Fire Putter Outters" and his five employee's should have gotten the contract. I know for a fact he turned in the lowest bid and I know that he is good. I saw him recap a quart of oil just the other day. Two twists is all it took him.

Wake up the US is getting fucked.
The UN is telling America, that America should pay reconstruction costs but they will swoop in and control the oil-for-food program.

America will not make off like bandits with Iraq oil. They will only be left with bills.
The oil isn't free for the taking, believe that.

I think they should just leave the oil in the ground. Who actually needs oil.

Halliburton was huge and world-wide before Cheney was ever there...

It's no surprise at all they would be bidding on the work there and nothing suspecious about them getting some it....

There were no bids involved- The excuse being "There was no time" - even though we've known that oil well fires were a possibility for months.

If this is true than my friend Joe, owner of "Joe's Acme Construction and Oil Fire Putter Outters" should definitely get the job as that would make him the highest bidder. I am going to FAX my Congressman and ask for a Congressional investigation.

taxpayers pay for the reconstruction. Cheney, Perle and his buddies collect the checks.

                              more from this GOOD company:

Affiliates Had $73 Million in Contracts

                              Saturday, June 23, 2001; Page A01

UNITED NATIONS -- During last year's presidential campaign, Richard B. Cheney acknowledged that the oil-field supply corporation he headed, Halliburton Co., did business with Libya and Iran through foreign subsidiaries. But he insisted that he had imposed a "firm policy" against trading with Iraq.

                              "Iraq's different," he said.

Yeah... well, if you did any research into this, you'd find out that there are only two companies world-wide that are qualified to do this sort of work, and the other one got the contract after Gulf War I.

Also, what's the problem? Halliburton is a huge fucking company. Can they just never do business with the government again?

From defense contractors to oil companies, why havent the media questioned already the billions bushes friends stand to make from all this? You think they will do so afterwards? With the corporate controlled media these days, not sure if you really will hear a lot of those stories or not. Considering that bush has more skeletons in his closet than clinton ever dreamed about, its amazing the virtually free ride he has gotten. So far at least.

How is that relevant to a contract for oil fires? There is literally only ONE OTHER COMPANY that can do this work, and they got the job LAST TIME. What part of that don't you understand?
The answer to your question would be: NO

I ask how many companies do this kind of work before? Wanted I see the how many knew got NO answers, thought that would be the end of it, I see that was a NO NO. Next will be the Texas Mafa connection, both cpmpanies are in Texas.

theking=dumbass. I guess you never heard of Iran-Contra, but I expect no better from you.

"In a March 13 announcement, DOD said that it "has plans to prevent or mitigate destruction of Iraq?s oil wells." The Pentagon added that it set up a toll-free telephone number for companies "interested in providing specialized services related to firefighting or assessing damage to oil facilities in the event of military action in Iraq." The number is (866)461-5171. DOD says a recorded message provides instructions on the information necessary for firms to be added to the bidders list.

But calls by ENR to that number early in the afternoon on March 13 found the voice mailbox to be filled, with no new messages being accepted."

there are quite a few companies capable of doing the job, but the number for the bidding was mysteriously inaccessible.

A decorated platoon leader in the Vietnam War, Oliver North began working in the White House for the National Security Council in 1981, eventually becoming deputy director for Political-Military Affairs in the Ronald Reagan administration. In 1986 it was revealed that a secret U.S. operation had been selling military equipment to Iran, in exchange for the release of U.S. hostages, and that money from the arms sales was being illegally diverted to help anti-socialist forces (called Contras) in Nicaragua. From May until August of 1987 the Iran-Contra scandal and its televised hearings put the spotlight on North, who donned his uniform and admitted that he acted illegally, but out of patriotism. His felony convictions were eventually overturned, and depending on who's talking, North is either a traitorous drug smuggler or a national hero who saved Central America from communism. In 1994 he earned the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate, but lost the election. North remains in the public eye as a political pundit and radio personality.
