Basra 3 days without water, electricity. Where will US leaders be tried?

let's not forget the GREATEST possible violation of laws of war: the mass death of civilian population.

Everyone knows that there is not much food in Iraq. Unless USA & UK actually capture Basra and Bagdad and other cities, it will be quite impossible for them to arrange humanitarian aid...

Please do not blame me now.. I'm just bringing the news.. Actually I have two questions, if someone knows the answers

    1. How long can people actually survive in 30+ degrees celsius without water pipes and electiricity and possibly food

    2. When they start dying massively, will USA retreat or what will happen..? Or will it just break the Geneva contention and let people die?

    From an article:

"Because Britain and the US intend to invade Iraq without the consent of the international community, they will be considered an occupying power under the terms of the fourth Geneva convention, which lays heavy responsibilities on occupiers to ensure law and order, protect private and public property, ensure food and medical supplies to civilians, and ensure hygiene and public health.

The US has acknowledged its responsibilities, and says it has assembled "the largest-ever humanitarian rapid response team" to cope with the aftermath of invasion, with headquarters in Kuwait City and three mobile field offices. "

4-4-40 is the rule of thumb. 4 minutes without air...4 days without water...40 days without food.

There are huge humanitarian camps surrounding Iraq. The food is there.

Let's hope people in Basra will be able to receive it from the camps

In answer to your second question. There will not be any retreat and even if civilians die because of the war there will not be any violation of the Geneva Convention.

                And why is that?

There seems to be a consensus that USA is the occupying power and it must bare its responsibility to provide humanitarian aid

It will make every effort to abide by its responsibility. If they were to intentionally avoid the responsibility then there would be a cause of action under the rules of the Geneva convention.

My opinions about American people and its current goverment may differ and I reserve that right

All the American people I've met are really nice and I sense no evil people here either. Although sometimes people really heaten up and talk whatever they talk, I sense no real hatred coming from Americans and if someone senses that coming from me he just misunderstands me then

Please do not confuse the difference if I oppose the war and your current aggressive government

Have you seen the latest US polls? About how many people in the US support now the war? And generally do you think a government of a democracy can implement a policy for a longer period of time without the support of its people (voters)? This is also the case of Finland ...

wouldn't it make a difference that we are not the only invaders as well? there's what, 4 or 5 countries with troops there, and a total (last i heard) of 35 countries in support. how would that work as far as the geneva convention goes?
