CNN 17,000 coalition casualties projection

Did anyone else see this on CNN

Casualties

1 in 15 soldiers WWI
1 in 15 soldiers WWII
1 in 13 soldiers Korean War
1 in 15 soldiers Vietnam
1 in 1500 soldiers Gulf War

But with the nature and location of this war casualties could go back to 1 in 15 soldiers or near that which was a possible 17,000 casualties

Makes me have a whole new level of respect for the soldiers fighting there

Still say he has to go, but after the gulf war, I never thought of the potential losses in those kind of numbers

that's 1 in 17.65, but if you only count the US troops.

Yeah obviously it was talking about the US troops, and obviously a lot higher percentage of iraqi troops died in the gulf war

fighting in an urban setting is much different than open space. thats where the casualties will come from. once they hit baghdad, the shit will hit the fan

Some in the media predicted 50,000 casualties in the 1st Gulf War and the facts are that more people were lost during the build up during Desert Shield than were KIA in Desert Storm. So much for media predictions and their "experts".

That's very high, I doubt the Iraqi's can even get close when all is said and done. They don't have the high tech equipment or the ability to do anything but primitive combat. The coalition forces have state of the art equipment, intelligence gathering means and major fire power.

If saddam cared 1 Cent about his country or people he would have left when the President gave him the 48 hr window of oppurtunity to do so.

I hope our troops come back safe and sound.

right now i think its 30 something and alot of those were accidents and friendly fire. My prediction is absolute worst case scenerio 1,000

It'll be interesting to see what happens when they enter Bagdad... If the Iraqis will put up a fight or not...

Basra and Umm Qasr are cities in a region of the country which is not particularly loyal to Saddam. I think we have only seen the beginning of US casualties, sadly.

Ultimately, I think all this extremely careful planning to avoid civilian casualties will do alot of harm to both the progress of the invasion and it will up the casualty count for coalition forces.
Let's just hope I am wrong...

I was wondering, does anyone have an idea how many casualties there would have to be before the US to start drafting?

I saw that on CNN.........they said that's how many would die if we sustained the same ratio of deaths that we did in WWII. They didn't say that's how many they projecred.

They said the total casualties in the gulf war was about 750

...

You can't underestimate human ingenuity with faced with the desperation of hundreds of thousands of people!

Besides the whole world is against this war -- just turn on the TV and see the world's reporters punish these war mongers with questions like, "how would you feel if someone you loved died in this unjust war" Eventually the injustice of it will become obvious...

WW3 is coming and the Bush family defense contracting company (6th largest in the world) will make an assload of money along with Lockheed Martin and the other fucks...
