He's a Shi'ite Muslim though. It's like getting a Liberal to speak on behalf of America going to war against Iraq.Comment

Not of course that ANY section of society should have to go through that and it will be a good thing when saddam is gone, but to be objective, he doesn't stand for all Iraqi's.. the Shi'ites are the ones surrendering.Comment

I didn't catch this on the news, but my brother told me that he was watching KGO news out of San Francisco a couple of days ago when some of the peace protesters were out and about. A few of them were interviewed by the station and were asked some of the most basic of questions about the politics of the war, and they didn't have a clue. According to my brother one of the protesters had some flyers and the newsman (after having interviewed the protester and she too could not answer some of the most basic questions) happened to realize that some of the answers were actually on the flyer and began to read the flyer on air.

I have not seen ONE Iraqi Exile that is against this war. Not ONE! There are over 10,000 thousand Iraqis in the US and half of them can't wait to go back once it is free of Saddam.Comment

1. Since when are the protestors marching on behalf of the Iraqi people? They're marching against the war.
2. What gives him the right to speak on behalf of the Iraqi people? He's just someone with an opinion.. and an axe to grind.
3 What exile doesn't hate the government they fled from..? look at all the right-wing extremist Cuban refugess in south Florida.Comment

I've seen heaps of Iraqi's against it here.. it's only most of the shi'ite muslims or kurds that understandably want saddam out.Originally posted by ChrisH

To look at these former Iraqi people and scoff at their opinions and their new citizenships is a complete joke. Of course they're going to be bitter and upset, they left Iraq for a reason.
I haven't seen any former Iraqi citizen come out in favor of Saddam yet, or even anti-war. Not saying there aren't any, but doesn't this make you wonder?PHAT SERVERS - Quality dedicated hosting at a quality price!

She doesn't need excuses - the girl was a fucking idiot.. probably 80% of the protestors are.. about the same as the pro-war people. Do you seriously think the views of dissenting Iraqi's are going to be given the air-time of pro-war iraqi's?? No way in hell. I've seen people here say that the people that are protesting are muslim's and Iraqi's on one hand, and then say no Iraqi's are against the war on the other.. There are plenty of anti-war Iraqi's. If you watch protest footage you should see some.Originally posted by Sly_RJ

I guess I just don't like seeing things get a little unbalanced - I guarantee you most if not all of the pro-war Iraqi's are Kurd's or Shi'ites, which is kinda like asking what a palestinian living in Israel thinks about Ariel Sharon.
I'm not of course saying that it means disregard their comments.. Saddam's treatment of the different sects is the best reason for going in and taking him out, I'm just saying don't get caught out by the propaganda, or in this case, the selective voices being shown.
besides an Iraqi against the war isn't a new's story, you'd expect it.Last edited by bhutocracy; 03-23-2003, 10:37 PM.Comment
