Should the U.S. flag be raised in Iraq?

There is a controversy brewing about the fact that American military commanders in Iraq have been ordered to NOT raise the American flag over territory it has conquered for fear of inflamming Iraqi resistance & other Moslems world wide.

It's a bad idea to raise the US flag in Iraq. Maybe in a lower position then the Iraqi flag, but not to replace it.

No, it's a stupid thing to do. It plays right into the Iraqi's hands saying this is an American invasion. Images of the Iraqi flag being taken down and the American one put up on Al jazeera is bad fucking salad. It's propaganda gold for anti-US countries.. why do you think they've told the soldiers not to do it?

Funny how if I leave my house, walk down the block, kick the door down to your house and shoot the place up, no court in the world would accept a plea of "self defense".

Yet... George Bush seems to think so.

I still fail to see how the US's "freedom" was somehow threatened from a rather impoverished country on the other side of the world that has trouble keeping basic utilities running in the capital.

I also fail to see how any of it is related to a bunch of Saudi Arabians that committed terrorist attacks against the US who publically denounce the Iraqi leader anyways.

As far as I know:
1. No Iraqi, soldier or otherwise, has ever committed a terrorist attack against the United States.
2. Iraq has never conducted a military attack against the United States other than in self defense of their forces or their country.

As long as there are people to defend this as a "just cause", there are people like me who refuse to abandon common sense, logic, and the laws we live by.

Go blow shit up, I don't really care as long as its not me. I have no lofty ideas of universal morality or justice.

But for the love of God don't try to lie to me about its merit.

Amp is correct...the reasons for the war have been explained over and over again, by me and many others, with facts and not lies. The reasons for the war are many, but some refuse to be educated and apply common sense, but some are limited in there insight and understanding by low IQ's.
