What?s up with all the anti-American posts and polls?

Why do some of you hate America so much? What has happened that makes you want to bash us so much?

Is it because we?re a capitalistic country that offers a secure and profitable existence? Or is it because you?re jealous of our success?

Regardless, it?s pretty pathetic.

Odd - the countries speaking out against the US are nations like Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, etc.

All but Saudi Arabia are democracies, so they're unlikely to be jealous of the 'free' system of US government.

Saudi Arabia has a higher standard of living than the US, so they're unlikely to be jealous of US consumerism.

Virtually all of the western world leads a secure and profitable existance, so that arguement falls flat.

You guys are all complaining about Americans, yet almost every penny that you make is somehow brought to you by Americans.

1. The computers you use
2. The Internet you rely on
3. The traffic you receive
4. The dollars you spend

Even this board that you post on is run on American soil. The words that you type are American English. The topics of your discussion are *for the most part* American based.

Take America out of the picture, and you?d find yourself in a sad existence.

Also, the comment posted about Saudi Arabia offering a better life than America?.Do you really believe that? What would happen if you were in Saudi and you had a message board like this? First of all, it wouldn?t be allowed, secondly you couldn?t post messages with out them being approved, thirdly, it would be monitored by the government, and I?d bet it wouldn?t be up as long as this one.

The many different countries of Europe, and the countries who are largely anti-war, aren't the ones who have the bullseye's on their backs. Has anyone once stopped to think that once Saadam makes these weapons, sells them to some random terrorist group, and they have them in their hands etc, that AMERICA will be the ones getting fucked up by them? Also AMERICA's allies and arm pits in the Middle East (Israel etc.), will be targets.

To the non-us countries of the world, is the US getting blown all to fuck a bad thing? Not necessacerily. Every country wants power. We have it. What better way to subliminally take it than by being anti-war when the result of that could possibly be us being fucked up, and the next in line taking over as the super power?

Ok, this is where I think the disconnect is. Anyone who claims to know 100% why the U.S. deployed troops to Iraq. There are likely a myriad of reasons. All these people who claim it's just about oil, or just about revenge, or whatever, don't know shit. I can't imagine Tony Blair risking his political future over just oil. What does he really stand to benefit.

However, that's not the point. Where the disconnect is...

There is NOT one American (or Brit, or Aussie) that is there for oil. 99% of Americans support the war because they believe Saddam is a brutal dictator and should be deposed so that his people can live freely. I don't care what the government's reason is exactly, but that's why Americans support the war and that's why Americans are fighting. So when people attack America, people are attacking Americans' idealism and benevolence. It comes across as a personal attack, because your typical American has no imperialistic aspirations. We didn't send boys to die in Vietnam, Korea, WWI, II, for oil. We did it out of genuine desire to enable others to live free.

Of course, you can dismiss this as being naive, but I'm telling you why motivates your average American.

Iraq doesn't have any nuclear weapons or anything big enough to attack the USA. Inspectors proved that and were working on disarming... slowly but there was NO reason to stop everything and attack now.

Bush administration wanted to go to war from the first day. They already had their personal reasons and did not give a fuck about other countries or citizens. It was all about getting "support" to start a war.
