If you're gonna get a dog, do some research. Dobies, although capable of being fine animals continue to have a host of genetic problems which often lead to bahvavioral problems. Make sure whatever breeder you talk to has an OFA (Orthopeadic Foundation for Animals) certs on the parents. Don't get misled by "Paper Hangers" or "Puppy Peddlars". Most often these are the breeders who rely on their AKC or UKC paperwork alone and have no clue about the dogs' breeding or what types of problems can pop up as result, because they don't care about the dogs. Also make sure that whatever breeder you talk to offers health certificates and a return policy. If they don't stand behind their breeding it should throw up a red flag. Beyond that you should considr a dog taht will fit your lifestyle and accomodations. I persoanlly breed APBT's but don't necessarily think that is the right choice for everyone. Look into adoptions. I am a big fan of Greyhound adoptions.
