OR...we could abolish the whole tipping thing and just pay higher prices at restaurants, since I don't really think the promise of a tip leads to better service these days anway. Just pay them $15 an hour and people will work hard to keep their job.
It's a nice theory, but I've been in countries (like Australia for example), where people do not tip and the waiters/resses make $15 / hour, and it doesn't hold up. Nothing against Australia, I really like it there, but the service isn't anywhere NEAR as quick, efficient and friendly as it is in the US.
