What should happen to Saddam Hussein

What punishment should deposed Iraqi President Saddam Hussein face?

Well if history repeats itself, then what happened to a similar leader in Baghdad should play out.

Abbasid caliph al-Mutasim was the Caliph of Baghdad in 1258 AD. On February 10, the city of Baghdad was sacked by the Mongol war engine lead by Hulagu, son of the infamous Ghengis Khan.

Because the Caliph Abbasid al-Mutasim stood defiantly and arrogantly against the unstoppable cavalry of the Mongol leader, his fate, still legend is unique.

After killing upwards of 800,000 citizens of the once illustrious city, the Mongols, it's said wrapped the Caliph in a carpet and kicked him viciously ( a Mongol tradition). Not dead, the Mongols then smothered on the indignity by locking the Caliph in his citadel surrounded by his treasures wherein he starved to death.

How does this fit Saddam Hussein, the once former henchman for the west who then lead bloody massacres himself against his neighbors and countrymen?

I say we put Hussein in a glass prison. Same size as the rathole the U.S. Army 4th Infantry found him in and put him on display at one of his palatial estates surrounded by his stolen booty where he should spend the rest of his natural life.

The death penalty is the easy way out for a man who used his power to suppress. Life in prison without his creature comforts should be a good enough lesson for this lifetime and the next.
