Who should follow the rules?
In a time when the heavy hand is coming down on this industry it amazes me what the sponsors will do to get a signup from a webmaster.
From the Pornkings banner on gfy that all but disables the choice of click on the "Fucking Around & Program Discussion" link.
To QuickBucks or *cough* an affiliate *cough* registering a domain name that is a common mispelling of the gfy board itself.
Personally and many of you could care less what I think but my opinion is these are really slime ball tactics for webmasters business. Both of these examples are exact reasons why there are many lawsuits going on now, why VISA is cutting the charge back rate to 1%, and why some of the processcors are gone today.
Both of these examples are how the business has cheated the consumers by blocking thier back button and keeping them locked into a certain page, or redirecting them to somewhere they didn't want to be when they typed in a useful domain name wrong.
While some sponsors are cleaning house and making sure they will be here for a long time to come. These are the examples of businesses that need to decieve the webmasters. If you cannot make your money or refferals in this business the right way then the writing is on the wall for you.
It's time webmasters woke up to these tactics. Wake up and see whats going on around you. You think this is a mistake that the flash on the banner for Pornkings about disables the "Fucking Around & Program Discussion" link? You think it's a mistake QuickBucks has the wrong spelling of this board as a domain?
NO!!! This is the kind of deception these company's know how to use. It's also the same reasons the hammer is falling now.
WAKE THE FUCK UP!
Did you really get more sales out of those tactics? Or did you piss off some people and get the ICQ warriors started up?
I know I don't speak for myself when I say this so sponsors who care should listen:
The webmasters are as sick of certain sponsors tactics as the surfers are! I know I have stopped promoting some sponsors that use these tactics because it only shows me those sponsors will step beyond the bounds and that tells me when they get caught I don't want them holding onto any of my money.
You want loyal webmasters to push your programs? Make it worth thier while. Don't annoy them on the message boards that they hang out on to have fun by disabling shit they use, or putting god awful sounds that really doesn't appeal to them. Instead why doesn't a sponsor say "hey sales down for you? This is whats working for our affiliates... " and put out some real useful information affiliates can use.
And what are the sponsors teaching thier affiliates when they make a banner using copyrighted songs and such? Will you cut my account if I spam your site to everybody at MicroSoft? Of course you will but your telling me your all for it and fuck the rules when you use a copyrighted song in your advertisements. Why is it ok for you to break the rules but then you shut off peoples income because they push the packet?
Those of you with half a brain I expect you'll read this and understand what I am saying. The rest will flame me and thats ok too.
