Firebird > IE...

Firebird is my primary browser on my macs.

For the most part you are correct. There are still some display differences especially with sliced images in tables. If there are extra lines, Firebird will shift the slices within the table whereas IE ignores it.

Still, Firebird is a MUCH better choice than IE. Don't think I've crashed it once since I started using it.

Yeah, I am a developer myself and I use IE still just to test and make sure everything looks nice. I know that if Firebird will display it, usually IE will as well. Firebird's just a bit more picky about the syntax and structure of how HTML is displayed, but in a sense, that is a good thing!

Yeah man, as long as IE is used, I'll always develop and make sure my stuff works well in it because unfortunately that is what most of the world runs. Maybe someday they will wake up and smell the coffee

I tried Firebird, but it was a little lean for me and a bit unstable. Mozilla is still my browser of choice.

Firebird will soon replace the regular Mozilla browser, they are already talking about it now

Does it have a decent popup blocker? Supposedly the popup blocker that will come with the next version of IE sucks (hooray for exit traffic and revenue) and its not even on my default.

firebird popup blocker is damn good!

the popup that you get when you login to wegcash is the only one that I've ever encountered in firebird.

the good thing is that if someone highlights that popup to the mozilla guys then it'll get fixed quickly (or of course you can do it yourself).

my favourite feature in firebird is the tab extensions where you can middle click (or left and right at same time) and it'll open that link in the background... makes it easy to open up a heap of threads quickly.

i like firebird too, except that it is not as forgiving as ie when it comes to tables and stuffm which annoys me, and obviously its startup time is longer and its a little more sluggish due to ie's sheel integration.

Yep, firebird is cool. But i dont and wont use it for a couple of reasons. First, roboform doesnt work, although i hear this is coming soon. Second, these people at mozilla/firebird just cant get the bookmarks right. There is no function to import/update ie favorites. Its obvious that the developers are all former netscape users and they are stuck in the thinking that bookmarks have to be done with a single file instead of separate files as in ie. So whenever you use firebird, in order to have updated bookmarks, you have to first open ie and export favorites, then open firebird and import that file, then close ie and delete the file, etc. Thats just stupid. And any bookmarks you make with firebird dont show up in ie. Evidently they think that after using firebird the first time you will never use ie again, which isnt reality.
Firebird is indeed a great program in most respects, but until they can loose their netscape-think mentality and fix the bookmarks to synch with ie, its useless to me.
