It's a good idea to use a 3rd Party encryption scheme. Wi-Fi is
very insecure. Even 128bit WEP Wi-Fi can be cracked with with
enough packet data. If you do use WEP change the encryption
key often so as packet loggers don't get enough data to break
your key. It's probably not a bad idea to change the network ID
too. However this doesn't really offer all that much extra
protection.

Also checkout http://www.realvnc.com/ remote access software.

It runs on just about everything, including PalmOS. In the past
I've done a lot of work on a palm from the lounge.
