un is a spineless debating society. It is very hard to get the un to take action. Rwanda for example, an estimated 800,000 were killed

And what did your government do when repeatedly asked by the UN to contribute "some" forces to Rwanda? Nothing.
The same applied to Canada, UK, serveral Euro countries - they did nothing.
This was not a reflection on the UN in that, despite urgent requests from it's members, those members chose to ignore the situation. It is the members you may have to chat about "taking action", - including your own government.
The UN ain't some "perfection" to aspire to. It is also not any "debating society". But it does represent the international community - a thing that the US government is clearly not in favor of, - at least at this time. Wonder why??

And it ain't cos you have been "taught" that it is "irrelevant" - more to do with the ususal selfish "interests" in not wishing to listen to the international community.
