Just wanted to welcome FB to the team publicly, it has been a busy day so I haven't been around too much!

To answer a couple of the quips - we haven't been paying since 1997 we've been in the industry since around then (some are older than others) I think the only thing that has been paying on time since 1997 is Social Security.

And I verify all those emails by hand, of course. Luke Perry and I are long-time pen pals.

Not to piss on your parade but aren't you concerned with the trademark suits?

Wouldn't it be a case of trademark dilution to use "Teen Star" and "Gay Globe"? Some people could misinterpret these to be Globe and Star affiliated sites, no?

Perhaps not, but it still might be actionable. Hence you would get sued whether right or wrong.

Similar to the time we got sued by Nabisco for a video called Whoreo (you guessed it two black guys DP'ing white girls). The boxcover was a mock look-alike of an oreo box of cookies.

It wasn't even our tape, we merely subleased some warehouse space to the owner/producer of the tape. Cost us 25k to make Nabisco go away.

FB is getting some much-needed sleep so I'll address the trademark issue since I sat in on nearly all the meetings.

We have run all our sites present and future by a few different int. prop. lawyers and they have all given the thumbs up. Homegrown is correct, of course, in saying that they are 'actionable' since we do live in the good ol' USA and you literally can sue anyone for anything. We are confident that our case is solid enough to make the minor risk worth the great return of doing something totally new.

Should things get out of hand we are fully prepared with alternate domains and designs. But we are assured that it would take a great deal of time and effort for those preparations to ever become necessity.
