Awww. ..sucks. My boys and I made it to the Oregon Coast Aquarium in 1998 just before they moved him to Iceland. We got to watch him playing around with huge tractor tires and stuff underwater. I was filming the underwater stuff when he decided he needed to go potty. The boys still tell the story of all the parents explaining to their kids that the six foot long dangly thing was his weewee. Yes, he really freed his willy ;)
Based on the info in the article, for having spent most of his life in captivity, he outlived normal expectations. Also states he went very quickly.
We're priviledge to live in an area where there are over 70 resident orcas in 3 major pods. I have been on several whale watching trips and even had them come right up to my boat (when I had it). They are some of the kewlest creatures on the planet.
