    Halliburton and Oil

    I've read here for a few weeks from many people that Dick Cheney's old company Halliburton has a contract to work on the reconstruction of oil fields in a post-Saddam Iraq.

    I've never seen a link to this. No one has provided a link to this. Hallibuton press releases have no info on such.

    I was watching the British House of Commons today and Blair said they intend to place Iraqi oil in a trust administered by the UN.

    How can Halliburton have a contract with a trust that doesn't yet exist?

    I'm beginning to think this whole Halliburton thing is made-up.

    Educate me!

          OK, I see. Oil in UN trust is separate from the issue
          of prevention and mitigation. Obvious on the face of it.

          So they have not awarded contracts yet or have?

          Any info on Halliburton?

              $1.5 Billion in private company contracts is planned initially. The Bush admin compiled a complete contracting plan bypassing the traditional redevelopment organizations in favor of private corp. contracts.

                  I think I answered this question already. A company owned by Halliburton was awarded a contract to put out and clean up any potential oil well fires. They are one of only two companies in the world qualified to do that job, and the other company got the contract after the first Gulf War.
