has anyone actually bought a profitable company??

some say 3. some say 6. some say more than that (months).

has anyone on gfy actually purchased a paysite/program lately? if so, how many months gross did you agree to pay for? i'm looking hard at buying several established sites.

It would really depend on the member section. If they're cookie cutter type sites with the same old licensed feeds, I wouldn't say more than 3. But if they got exclusive content and customers are happy and have a chance of retaining a long time, then it can go up to 6-9 I would say.

my average members stays about 4 month, so I use that, and then add the design+marketing value of the site on top of that

Wouldn't that depend specifically on the member section though. A happy member is a retained member. If you could get thousands of new signups every month but they don't retain it's not that stable. I would expect that the stability factor is directly dependent on how the member's area is presented. Just my thoughts...

well, no. if you are making a stable amount of revenue, over several years - whether it's through scamming the surfer or making them happy - the assumption is that those several years on record (whatever the record might be), will continue to be the case.

I see your point. But if the stable revenue is dependent on a specific factor such as scamming people, what if an industry change goes into effect which could compromise that record. For example, the November 15 visa regs did some dents to a lot of the companies that did the scamming (I won't name names obviously), so that should be accounted for when determining the acquisition value.

that sounds like the right thing to say, but the reality is that sites like mine had to jump through huge hoops, while the scammers are already on to the next episode. the nov 15 regs did fuck all to slow down those who are fucking this industry. fuck all.

I agree - but its hard for me to keep my members for a longer period, one of the reasons is that my sites are to "mainstream" - im not the greatest designer, and its only my part time job. I know other people would be able to keeb the members for a longer time, but since I cant do that yet, I have to base my buyingprice on what profit "I" can make

Your right... those who are leading the dark side of the adult web already have their next steps planned for the next hit this business will take. But despite the scammers taking those steps to hurt this industry as a whole, sites like yours have a branded reputation and will not disappear overnight no matter who wants to take them down. You've spent a long time (as other paysite owners have) creating your sites and developing a solid reputation and those extra hoops you have to go through are annoying but will lead to long term revenues for you whereas the scammers are moving offshore from operation to operation trying to make the quick buck.
