my mother tried zyban for awhile, it made her crazy. gave her insomnia to the point that she wasn't sleeping more than 2-3 hours a night.
she ended up buying a case of bubble gum (normal gum) and just stuck a piece in her mouth when she wanted a smoke, using this method she was completely smoke free in three weeks.Comment

Yeah the drinking part sucks. You have to be very very careful. It won't necessarily make you more drunk like a pain killer would do, but it's worse because you can totally black out off of 3 drinks. Just not remember a single thing the next day. Totally seizure related I'm sure.
The insomnia sucks ass too but nothing a bit of xanex wont help. Just have your doc load you up with the works lolComment

Go to your doc tell him to prescribe wellbutrin ot is the same as zyban. But some health insurance wont cover the zyban but will cover the wellbutrin. It is an antidepressant which one of the side effects is that it stops the craving for cigs.Comment

Zyban is just a lower dosage of Wellbutrin. They found that people taking Wellbutrin were forgetting to smoke, so they came out with Zyban... I was too scared to use another drug to quit smoking and I just did it cold turkey. I smoked for 16 years and I am sooooo glad I finally quit. Been over 6 months now. You can do it, just think of how much less money you'll be giving to people that knowingly added chemicals to the cigs to keep you hooked. I got angry when I started paying attention to the commercials that thetruth.com put on TV, etc. I also think that me working from home and having the luxury of keeping myself away from other smokers helped alot for the first few weeks.

I quit New Years with the help of Zyban. With insurance it's only 10 bucks a month. It's worked pretty well. I was shocked how easy it was for me to quit. I've smoked a few cigarettes now and then when I was out drinking, but probably no more than 10 over the past 3 1/2 months. I smoked for over 20 years till I quit cold turkey last year. I don't recommend it to anyone--it is extremely difficult. The only thing that got me through it was pride cuz I told my family I would do it. Been smoke free for over a year now. If you are going to try cold turkey, make sure you replace it with another habit like working out or hiking--I do both. I can't stand the smell of cigarette smoke now.Comment
