You people must really get indoctrinated as kiddies. With that pledge of allegiance and all that national anthem hand over the heart bullshit.
The Man really does have his sweaty cock in your mouths and you just can't get enough, can you?
Sad, really.
Think about what you're saying, Joe. It's not the government that flag represents, it's all of us. The nation as a whole. Burning it represents resentment not only for the government, but for the people. That's not just bullshit we're fed in schoolbooks, it's REAL shit that our grandfathers and fathers and friends died for.

That's my take on it. Bullshit aside.
Flags and emblems are for the simple minded. The sheep.
The Man trudges the flag out whenever he needs public support to murder, pillage or violate human rights. Knowing that the sheep are going to nod their heads in agreement.
You've been fooled! You'be been brainwashed! You Americans are enraged by a desecrated flag but not by a desecrated principal.

Again, it's just sad.
That's just complete nonsense. Perhaps in some dictatorships, the flag is a symbol of murder. But to say that flags are for simple-minded people and the rest of what you said... it's just complete hogwash. EVERY country has a flag, mostly to represent it's existance.
To categorize an entire nation is such a way is even more narrow-minded than that of which you speak.

Your flag imprisons you all.
Nationalism is evil. Hitler wouldn't be anything but a failed art student without it.

Fools.
Well, he could have been an author as well, but that's besides the point.
The difference between America and Hitler's Nazi National Socialism is very simple. In America, we are NOT all mindless drones. If we were, then people like you wouldn't be able to post your rhetoric on our board. See what I mean?

Rhetoric? It's called the truth.
You can't see it because you've been indoctrinated.
Now repeat after me: "I pledge allegiance to the flag of..."

National pride maintains a strong economy, and keeps a country from being overthrown. We're about to see what kind of national pride Iraq has first hand. Are you ready?

You can have national pride without flag worship.

I think I speak for the majority of Americans who believe it's not the flag as an object that offends us when we see it being burned. It's the mentality and insult that's in the gesture that we take offense to.
What I find funny about the us flag is the way you keep it. It's fucking everywhere, usually filthy. It's been on the ground, it's dirty it's a bit ripped.. no matter.
In finland the flag is SUPPOSED to be burned if it even touches the ground. But I guess you're free to be proud of a flag that you can barely see what color it is.
don't argue with me here, you can't deny that 50% of the flags (of individuals) are fucking dirty, it's a disgrace.

No argument here. I agree with you. And by the way, we are supposed to burn our flag if it hits the ground too. Just most people can't bring themselves to do it. You know, we're all sheep.

Joe is simply a John Lennon fan, who... in his own way... is trying to follow in the peaceful footsteps of his former idol, and make a statement against war.
How close am I Joe?
Of course, I'm not so sure burning the american flag was something even John would have approved of. He loved NY, and he had a fancy for America if I'm not mistaken.

Enlighten us, Joe.
Yes, it's true. He did.
I'm fully aware of that. In fact, I have a soft spot for NYC myself. Only spent two weeks there but I like the place. Could have something to do with all the chicks loving my accent!
But NY was a different place in the 70's when Lennon was there. The 80's ruined everything. Fucking yuppies.
I wonder what Lennon would think of this bullshit war? I bet I could guess.
It amazes me that you guys let this putz rile you up. Ignore the ignorant. He's just doing it to get a rise and attention. Sooner or later his Mom will catch him on the board and he'll go to the corner for a week or three.
Here ya go Jpe, go have fun here with the other narrow braincelled boobs. http://www.wdaf.com/
And if *I* remember right, there were some long lines of woolies in Oz not long ago... handing over your guns. Feel safer now? Pack up your stereos! They may be next!

Well, you would know better than I that Mr. Lennon was a bit of a hothead himself, and held some long grudges.
But the late 60's/early 70's were so much different than today, as you pointed out, that it would be impossible to tell where he would stand on this. John was anti-war, that much is undisputable. However, Vietnam is not the same as what's going on here.
My question is... what would John have thought, being a friend of NY, had he seen the towers come down after the city was attacked? He was pissed at Paul for quite some time, and that was just petty bullshit.

We never really had any guns to begin with. Only the gun nuts! And it was only the semi-automatics that were banned. And the people who need them - farmers - still have them.
Why not look at our per capita gun violence statistics? It makes me glad I don't live in your country. And then ask the average Aussie what they think of our gun laws?
Our culture has nowhere near the violence of yours.

He wouldn't have been stupid enough to connect Sept 11 with Saddam, nor would he have thought that the motives of the US were to "free the Iraqi people", especially when you are about to murder thousands of them.
Don't insult the memory of the man who said: "Give peace a chance"
Of course its a form of protest. The fact that it gives so many of you Americans the shits is proof that it works.
Maybe you should learn to be a little less sensitive and learn from us Australians about the real place of a flag!
And you call yourself a Lennon fan. I never saw him stoop to base insults as a form of protest to the Vietnam war.
Anyway, just thought I'd point out your hypocrisy, Joe.
Flag burning is simply a very POOR form of protest. Not effective at all. Why? Because it only works in a counterproductive way. You're not changing anyone's mind or even making them think deeper. You're simply turning more people against your cause.

i agree. i'm also a huge Lennon fan, and not American.

You still don't get it do you?
This whole thread comes down to one word: INDOCTRINATION.
You are just one victim. There's 280 million more. Okay, give or take 10 million free thinkers.

That's a good point.
That's what the US war on terrorism has turned into though, more people have been turned against their cause
All I've seen on this board in the last few months is bloodthirsty neanderthals baying for the blood of Iraqi civilians.
Karma's a bitch, man!
BURN BABY BURN!
On the contrary, I've never seen one post by anyone who is for this war thirsting for innocent Iraqi civilian blood.
And don't pass judgement on me based on what you read on this board. I do believe this war needs to either ensue quickly, or not at all.
And I'm not looking forward to anyone dying here. American or Iraqi. I have a few friends in the service who are already over there. And might not come back.

Did I mention you?
Why don't you take a look through some of the Iraq threads of the past few months.
You will find literally dozens of messages from people wishing to "Nuke 'em all!" or similar such sentiments.
These people are all Americans. Not one foreigner.
You people are obsessed with violence and war and you will reap what you sow in Iraq let me assure you of that.

Well, I don't know what kind of response you expect, Joe. When you make posts in threads with an American flag ablaze, spewing the words "Burn baby burn". All it took was one person's banter to cause you to get all worked up, then you start burning a flag, and suddenly there's dozens of people wanting your head.
You may have come for a peaceful protest but got yourself a riot instead. Shouldn't surprise you though. The way you went about it. You certainly didn't sway many people. Only pissed them off even more.
12 clicks is like the right wing Joe Six so to speak. I happen to agree with a lot of what he says, just not the way he says it. (speaking of 12clicks).
I'm guilty of having said "Nuke em all" myself. That doesn't mean I want to start dropping a nuclear arsenal on everyone.
All I'm saying here is that Joe's "Burn the flag" campaign is useless to accomplish anything other than more "Nuke em all" sentiment.
