    Advertising on P2P?

Okay guys.. Without going into details right now, I'm having a P2P client developed for the porn surfers of the world..

On the client will be a banner rotation script, my question is would there be interest from the adult webmaster community in this type of adveritising?

Rates would be stupid cheap for banner impressions, because it rotates every 60 seconds. I'm thinking in the arena of 3,000/$1 or something. This is totally new so I can't even project click-through ratios, but what kind of prices do you think would be fair?

Any insights, advise, comments, suggestions, flames, questions, inquiries, mailbombs, etc.. are appreciated

P.S. I was thinking this type of advertising would be great for TGP's, MGP's, free sites, AVS, and free trial sites.. basically everything where the customer gets something for free, or the illusion thereof. Thoughts?

Im interested in how you plan to promote it to users. Kazaa has quite an impressive porn offering, how do you plan on switching those users or similar type users to your system?

Another question that needs to be asked as well is how do you plan to get your P2P system to conform to the legal requirements of the Millenium Digital Copyright Act?

This is not a full truth.. Please remember that ALOT of paysites out there put out teaser content on Kazaa and that brings in quite a few visitors. Tagging the bottom of the video with your URL, or tagging the pictures, does work.

I'm working on an affiliate program. Chances are the people who download this program will not even know of kazaa. The download method and the program are very unique in the P2P world.

This will be piggybacking the Gnutella network. Downloads will not occur from the website. Monitoring uploads is not necessary as the client is not capable of uploading. That makes me pretty much insulted, not impenitrable, but close.

I'd be curious what they're signups look like from kazaa advertising.. it would be nice to find out, but probably not trackable.

I'm sorry for seeming negative, I don't mean to come off as a playa hater just working with you to fully mold your idea....

follow up issue: how do you get about Gnutella's number 1 weakness -- slow speed re queries? how bout its number 2 weakness -- leecherz who don't want to share

#1 Weakness: Slow queries.. There is no way around that, might get better with Gnutella2

#2 Weakness: leecherz.. uhm.. this client is basically a leach in it's v1 form.. so i can't say much about that.

sorry, but us paysite operators only post teasers to the P2P networks because we have to... the constant content theft going on leaves us only w/ that unattractive option... most of us would certainly give up the ability to post teaser material to the P2P world if we could get rid of it altogether... quite a bit of money has been lost from our coffers due to P2P.

but, what i already do on current P2P networks, and certainly *will* do on yours as well, is 'poison the stream', so to speak... i take my paysite media, create blank video files w/ only my URL's, make sure the names and filesize match the real thing exactly, and share the bogus media on the networks from multiple locales... hehe, this trick usually works best when you've created massive .rar sets that people end up wasting tons of time and bandwidth on..

                                        Clever

So I'm not the enemy.. Besides, I think this would be good traffic opportunities for TGP's and free trial providers. Everyone knows that P2P is here to stay, so my file sharing client is not going to break anyone, if anything it will help promote their sites by them baiting the users. I'm just hoping the Banner impressions, click throughs, and pop-ups are sellable. Otherwise i'll have an awful lot of spare traffic to port to my affiliates.

Hmm.. gets the wheels spinning.. Setup a gnutella client on one of my linux machines with hundreds of renamed movie files with bait content..
